Recieved a missed call from this number. Called it back to have someone answer it with an abrupt "Hello" no welcoming introduction. Advised that i was aparently paying insurance on my phone for £9.99 - corrected him and told that i dont have insurance. asked if i was interested. told him no, the handset is old and not worth insuring. he then rudely responded with "oh [***] phone is it?" and then ended the call.

can i just say im sorry but to everyone who has gone before me i will have to disagree i was called on Aug 21st 2008 by Bright Phone and they sold me 18 month insurance on my Orange LG Viewty and made me aware i would be saving £100 a month and it would be equvalent to £3.61 a month and they would be taking a payment of £80 upfront i think the people ubove need to open their ears and listen more (get of their backs)

Also when my phone then developed a faut with its touch screen a few days later i rang their claim line recived their claim pack in i think 3 days in the post and had fixed and returned my phone within 48 hours now thats a service PHONES 4 U or anyone else cant match id like to say a big big thanks to everyone at the company and keep up the good work remember for everyone on here there are about 200 people happy with the jobs your all doing for your customers

I just got a call - they didn't hang up, and I could hear the noises that MSN messenger makes when you receive a message from a contact in the background a few times.

They didn't say anything and I hung up after about 15 seconds...then googled this website...

Matthew Lake obviously works for the company - as they are not even courteous enough to talk to you - Ignorant [***]!

Just looked in my missed calls on my iPhone and I have that number but I don't remember it ringing at all. Think I'm just going to have to ring o2 up. Same thing happened to my friend who has an iPhone and what happens is they ask you to type some digits into your keypad, which then gives them access to your simcard, somehow!??!, then they make a copy of your simcard and use it, running you up a huuuuuge bill. So I think the best thing to do is block the number or save it and name it as DO NOT ANSWER!!

    Hope that helps.

I started to clik on and gave them a false IMEI number and then they started asking for card details. I've told them i didnt have my card with me and they said they would ring bck later!
After reading this...i'm gunna have great fun with them when they ring back tonight!

have just read back over the previous pages, seems its a good job the line went dead. I dont have an Iphone, I have an N95 8Gb, direct with vodaphone but I do have insurance. When I dropped my phone, I called them, They arranged for me to pick up a new phone at one of their stores the same day. Think I'll stick with that service rather than trusting to some swansea scammers who are unregulated.

    Glad I googled though

Ive had several calls from this number, and they are trying to sell insurance. I bought my insurance for my blackberry when i got my phone and there was a warning in the documents that they provided my saying that there have been circumstances of a company in the swansea area calling their customers and trying to get them to convert to their insurance cover, which may i add is worthless.

BRIGHTPHONE ARE W*****S!!! I had a phone call from them saying they we're my current insurer premier admin who I am with via fones4u. They said they could lower my premium for the same deal and I would have no excess, I was amazed and asked a few questions and they seemed genuine! They knew all of my phone details my address, name, bank details I think i stupidly corrected them on one thing thinking I was talking to the right people as they had all my other details correct. They then went through the speil there obliged to at the end of agreeing an amendment which I thought it was stating they were underwitten by brightphones, which premier are not. A few days later I had the bad luck of having my phone stolen when I was shopping in town. I duely rung up premier who denied all knowledge of these actions and could find no recorded trace of this call on there systems. Because I didnt like being mucked around I refused to make a claim with them and got a new contract out. I then stumbled on some post I missed where i have a certificate of insurance from brightphones! I'm still just in my 'cooling off' period and rung to cancel the agreement. They said it had to be in writting...i then fired back that it was stipulated on the written contract that I have full right to cancel the contract buy phone OR writting. I said if I wrote they would recieve the letter after the 14days and I would be charged which I got a silent reply. I then said that I would just cancel the debits so they couldnt draw anything untill they recieved a letter from me in which I was informed that they had taken a lump sum for the year--Ive just checked and they took £80. I kicked up stating I hadnt agreed to this so the guy said he would track the recorded call and play it back for us to listen too, which I agreed to and he then hung up!!! They are awful scammers, i dont care what they have said further up, I work for a cold calling place part time and this is not how you conduct a fair and registered bussiness. Im more worried that an illegitimate company now have all of our bank details when ever they want. not saying its there fault but, I think there could be a leek within premier admin, I would check who your basic insurers are!! BRIGHTPHONES are scum and there going to have alot more than trading standards after them, becareful and dont get stung like the rest of us.

I have had a call from this number today. I have my own Samsung on an O2 Simplicity sim so the phone is not insured and wasn't bought via any phone shop. Where do they get your number from and think they have a right to ring it up? If this is O2 selling the info I am not at all happy that they can do this. I guess the only thing to do is register with the Telephone Preference Service and if they do ring again tell them they are breaking the law as you have registered not to receive unsolicited calls, of which these are.

    What is TPS?

The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is a central opt out register whereby individuals can register their wish not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls. It is a legal requirement that companies do not make such calls to numbers registered on the TPS.

The original legislation was introduced in May 1999. It has subsequently been updated and now the relevant legislation is the Privacy and Electronic (EC Directive) Regulations 2003.

    Who can register?

The term individual includes consumers at their residential address, sole traders and, except in Scotland, partnerships.

How long will it take to become effective?

Once a number has been registered it will become effective in 28 days.

Is there any charge for registering?

No, it's free to register on the TPS.

    Who pays for TPS?

No money is received from the Government to run the Service, the direct marketing industry pays for it.
