    Just had a call from this lot.  I used to work as head of IT for a call center, so asked them a few questions.  The data they call on is random, and is not bought from any provider.  When they call, as to be added to there exclusion list.  And dont give them any details.

    They are asking, if you pay 9.99 a month for insurance as a hook to get you in, cos you are allways going to say no.  Cos no one pays that.  And also its a way of making it sound like they know who you are.  

    I rang them back from my work phone (a desk phone) and she asked the same questions, so they will say that to every one.

    Its not a con or a scam, I am sure they are want to see you insurance, but I would not risk giving any information to some one that you know nothing about.  

    If you want to stop all calls like this, add your self to the TPS list.  If they call after that they will be commiting a criminal offence.

    OMG!! Also as per Phil and Kirsty's comment, I was scammed £80 at the latter part of last week!!!!! They did exactly the same thing; told me they could offer cheap phone insurance for £3.99 and then 2 days later I find they have taken £80 out of my account!!!!!!! I was totally fuming!!!  I called them up on a Saturday and they didn't even have a proper messagign service and didn't even know whether they were open or not, and not even any opening times - even during the week! I left a message and also emailed them but by Monday lunchtime I still hadn't heard anything from them!!! I called them up and told them that I was completely mis-informed that there was no mention of £80 coming out of my account and this turns out it was for 18 months cover!! I told her that the lady I spoke to said to pay a months cover now and then she would send the paperwork to me next week.  Then I told her to listen to the recording of the conversation and come back to me. She came back to me saying that the recording DID say they would be taking £80 out of my account and I was told that this was for 18 months cover!!! I couldn't believe the lies that were coming out of this womans mouth!!! I guess on this basis she thought I could not ask for a refund but then I said that I received the paperwork and there was a 14 day money back guarantee on it so the lady told me to send in a Recorded Delivery letter to cancel the policy.  I did this on that Monday afternoon and aparantly they never received it until the Wednesday after calling them on Tuesday saying they hadn't received it!
    Then when I called on Wednesday I spoke to the same woman and she said that they had received the letter and my account would be credited and this would take 48 hours to reach my account.  Then I called again the next day (Thursday) just to make sure and I was told that the refund hadn't been made yet as the payments are not made until the end of the week and this would take 7 - 10 working days to clear!!! I couldn't believe it!! One lie after another!!! I then said you told me it would be cleared within 48 hours and now your telling me another story!! And the lady kept repusively saying no, it will take 7 - 10 days and completely denied she had said 48 hours!!!
    So today's Friday and turns out I have had the £79.99 payment (to be exact!) refunded back to my account but this will take 7 - 10 working days!!! I can not believe it, 1 whole week to get some sort of action from them!!!!

    Any advice for those that still haven't had a refund is to keep calling them, email them at the email address; sales@brightphone.co.uk  and keep a record of EVERYTHING you say.  Explain things from start to finish and get their name and try to get their surname also(although I was lucky to get the full name of one lady, they would not divulge the name of the MD, only his first name.)  Keep doing it until you get a response.  Be calm, but firm and always stand your ground.  Threaten them with legal action/trading standards (which I will be taking up if I do not receive my refund) and do not give up!

    in reply to anon i got to say that woman you spoke to she aint got a clue onestly now shedont even now what day of the week it is sometimes they have ripped you off good and proper you wont see that money again which is horrible how do they sleep at night they ask you to write a letter to cancell and will always say it hasnt been received once they have you money they dont care i wouyldput a stop on all details you have gave them cause they may take more WHO KNOWS its happened again and again SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE!!!!!!

    I had a call from theseguys on friday offering me a cheaper deal on mobile phone insurance - I advised them my phone is payed for by the company I work for they said not a problem thanks a lot for your time.  Just googled the number to see who these people are and been reading all your comments - get a grip guys if you don'twant to sign up for something WHY do you give out your card details? Don't you ask how much they going to take off your card or what???  These real problem from the looks of it is you guys not listening to what they are trying to say!!! If you don't want sales calls you should all TPS your numbers - it's free sowill suit your tight lot!!!!

    we did listen to what they told us, £3.99 a month, no mention of £80 straight away!! they scam everyone and when you contact them for a refund, they try their hardest to get you off the phone and refuse to pay your refund!! all they do is lie! obviously you did not hear what they say as you didnt agree to their insurance, so how can you say that we dont listen? we thought we was gettin a good deal with them, not gettin ripped off!!
    anon, i`m still waitin for my refund, obviously it wont be in full as they have taken so long so they will now take out some of it as they have had my phone covered for a while.

    HAd several calls to my work mobile - vodaphone - from this number one just now. Have never ansewred and they never leave voicemail. CAn't this be reported to BT?

    in reply to anon his name is peter demery i am also waiting for a refund been 2 months now and keep getting lied at all the time have informed the fsa and have informed me they are on it so hopefully brightphone wont be hassling us after a while go on fsa

    Just received a call from this number (I changed my mobile number about 4 weeks ago and there are very few people that have it!)  I don't even have an iphone, which it seems is the connection between everyone else on here - Really annoys me as It cost me £25 with Vodafone to change my number anyway, to avoid these types of calls and within weeks its started again.  I received the call from this number at 11.08 today.

    I've got a motorola and they've phoned few times. Id presume they get the numbers just as businesses use worms to get email address, hense why we get so much junk mail. I've jsut realised never to do anything in regards to insurance/banking/phones over the phone, unless you've phoned them. I pity the fools who have to make the calls, think id rather be on the dole. lol
