Creep company

I called the number back and one of the reps told me the numbers are randomly generated. This explains why they call even people who are already with them.
Is this legal?
If numbers are generated randomly, they have complete disregard for people who have registered to avoid such calls!

What can be done abot this?

I signed a vodafone contract at Phones4U it seems that phones4u sold my information to these people i'm pretty certain of it.  i had a phone call at the beginning of my contract offering insurance due to my naivety i agreed because they offered a good cheap insurance deal and i assumed vodafone gave them my details to offer me a better deal than my current insurance, however when i lost my phone they wouldn't pay up! now i'm getting more and more phone calls every day as my contract nears to an end.  one word of advice dont renew your phone contract with phones4u or carphone warehouse it just means trouble all they care about is making as much money off you as possible its much better to go straight to the official phone network outlets where they value your custom and wont try to piss you off.

I am with O2 and am towards the end of the contract. I got the call from this number. Ignored lot of time but keeps on calling me. I received it once and the guy at other end said " Would you like to save some money on your phone bill" I said .. [***] off. and hung up.. hasn't called me again..

I'm registered on the TPS but got a call off this number. I think they are using a predictive dialer because i've had dropped calls off them before.

I'm reporting them to Ofcom and Direct Marketing Association:
-They arn't running their data against the TPS system
-Their Caller Line ID isn't a freephone number alternative
-I rung it back, they don't preset an option to opt out

I suggest reporting to Ofcom because they are breaking the law and their own industry regulations. Enough complaints will warrant an investigation which will lead to fines and improvments. You can complain via on online form.

I have recently taken out a contract with this company on 3, I can't believe all these negative comments, i typed in the number who called me initially so i could call them back and I have found all these comments! Can't believe some of your comments, you haven't even spoken to them yet you slate them and some really pathetic people moan but haven't even asked to have their number taken off their list!

O2 were charging me £40 for 600 minutes and 400 texts
3 are giving me 750 minutes and unlimited texts for £35!

Fair point Sarah. But most people's point is that they don't want to be sold something via a high-pressure telesales call. I need my phone open for business, not tied up with strangers trying to sell me something.

There are a lot of cowboys in the industry using predictive dialers with little regard to the EC Directive that governs its use. Ringing numbers on the TPS system is against the law. Ringing numbers randomly is considered even worse. High drop-rates (which i've also suffered from companies), are also a huge problem. Ofcom raised the fine threshold from £5,000 to £50,000 because they stated there was such a high level of negligence and it was causing such a nuisance to the public - which is a criminal (not civil) offence

There is good advice in this forum - and the general theme with this number is that it's a scam from a Swansea company (which goes under many names). They either offer (fake) additional insurance services for Carphone Warehouse customers (claiming to offer you substantial reductions if you pay immediately, via Credit Card, etc) OR they offer you a cheap phone offer (as your contract is nearly up for renewal).

The scamming Swansea company have only BASIC details about your phone from a Carphone Warehouse database leak (under investigation still). This means they do NOT have your payment details or bank details. They only have your telephone number and maybe your name.

Simple response for all these calls should be "You SHOULD already have my bank details, my account details and my address, unless you can prove you already have these details, I refuse to continue this conversation".

NEVER give any information about how much you currently pay or any bank account/card information.

i answered a call to these guys, i got my phone from vodafone direct.....
I did not get offered any insurance, call them and they are a call centre who offer 3g phones according to the recorded message!
People making up stuff like that idiot Dan above obviously have nothing better to do.
i would rather buy a phone from a shop myself, but hey.

please stop calling me. how can O2 pass my number to third parties. this is a breach of confidentiality!

I received a missed call on my O2 mobile at 3pm today.  I put it into google to see had called me and found this thread - thought I'd just add my name to the obviously long thread that has gone before.

Me too, I got a call at 5.21pm today, I was at work and couldn't answer it anyway. Oh well!!

this number called me 14th July, and when i answered, all i could hear was what sounded like a call centre.  No attempt was made by the caller to speak to me.

yes ive had this no call me a few times now , no response other than background noise then they hang up  very annoying late at night / early morning

Got missed call and called back and they answred free phones 4 u and told me my contract was up which it isnt, actually got another 5 months left!!!

Has called twice and not left voicemail, didn't recognise number so checked here - guess it's call-centre again.

i am not being rude, but all of you are saying this is a scam, yes they are cold calling you but from what i have read none of you have actually been ripped off by them, the ones who have answered have had a good deal, and no i dont work for them, i had a missed call myself so typed in their number and this came up.

This number has been calling me for months, i have been ignoring it but decided to answer on Monday to be told that surprise surprise im due an updated phone as my contract is at an end (which it is soon). they asked me to confirm my Bank details which stupidly i did. i was told i would have the phone today and when it didnt turn up i went to Phones4u where i got my contract only to be told that this is a scam. luckily i have no money in my account and have managed to cancel my card before they managed to clear me out!
The guy in the shop saw this happen to a girl last week and because she opened the phone they wouldnt take it back. she now has 2 contracts.
i have been advised that when this phone does come, not to open it and send it straight back.
I was lucky to cancel this when i did. others might not be so lucky.

the fact is that companies who don't obey the law and industry regs in one area (repeated silent calling, autodialling, lack of TPS cleansing and even lying about who they are) probably don't play fair in other areas. who would want to deal with such a company? not me.
