Good luck to all you others - passing the details on to the authorities.
- Caller: Advanced Support helpline.
- LorriG replies to Tom, Cardiff| 1 replyI also received a call from support4pcs and was very suspcious. I phoned Dell themselves and they said to ignore these calls as they are a money making scam. They also said windows error messages had been sent to them, as my service provider and showed me were to see all the errors on my pc. It all sounded legit and I can see how easily people can get caught out by these scam artists. Said they were based in Oxfordshire but that calls were routed via Ireland. They gave me an 0035 # to call back on, but haven't tried it and have lost the # now. They wanted to connect to my computer and to charge £80 for a year's support or £180 for three years support. We need to spread the word to make sure people don't fall into their trap.
- PeteI got an unsolicited call from an international number by a man with a foreign accent saying my Windows computer had errors and he wanted to dial in to remove viruses. He said he was a "microsoft certified partner" and was calling from the Windows company. I asked him what number he was calling from and he said to call the helpline number, 0186 5600 898. This is a scam. Beware!

- Tami LondonHad a call this morning which followed a pattern similar to those described in previous accounts here. It ended with the caller saying that he would ring back since, I told him it was not convenient for me to switch on my computer right then. I'd had another call a few days earlier and my response then had been to say that I didn't trust the caller and that I was going to ring off; he beat me to it....demonstrating a suspicious style of customer service skills - I wonder where they got their training...?
Hey, what a coincidence, 'Mark' just now rang again as promised from this morning: well at least he's prompt and keeps his word on calling back! Can't think why.... As it is, I think I communicated my views fairly clearly to him - having had a chance to check on-line and seen this site. Thank you!
Having decided to find out more from the caller this morning, I found him evasive when I asked how he had got my phone number and got a garbled response about registration codes, providers etc. His muddled avoiding tactic was aided by an Indian/Asian accent. Interestingly there were other phone operative voices in the background, as with a call centre, so they seem to be doing this on an industrial scale; that, or otherwise using sound effects!
A last word: I subscribe to a cheap calls service from Onetel, which is part of the TalkTalk Group. I notice that another contributor last December (Carol) commented that the only connection in common between the people who had been called was that they were both with TalkTalk. This, of course, could be total coincidence since nobody else has said the same thing; however, I would like to know their source for our numbers, or whether it's just random trawling through phone directories.- Caller: Kalsoft Tech Solutions

- AdeMy nanna has just received a phone call from someone claiming to work for 'Windows' (yes I know) and that her computer had errors. My nanna was took in by this but is totally computer illiterate so she said they would have to speak to me. They eventually gave her this number. I then researched the number and found many sites like this. I dare say some people will fall for this. They basically want access to your computer to get your personal details and\or plant viruses to then sell you software. SCAM. Wonder if they are purposely targetting old people and possibly vunerable people. NO ONE WILL EVER RING YOU FROM MICROSOFT. Been in computers for 15 years and I have never ever had any phone call from any company regarding a problem I have had with a PC. If YOU have a problem with your computer then its always YOU that rings up (unless its a callback about an existing problem). Beware

- SkytalkerI too took a call from Robin Parker who was most definitely foreign - Pakistan/Indian, and his English was a bit dodgy as well.
He took me through the following
1. ‘start’, ‘run’ and then type in inf
2. Took me to page and when there he asked me how many files were in there? About 100+ ‘Oh my Jesus’, you should only have 10 – 20 files in there – Oops
3. We then went to ‘run’ again only this time I had to type in ‘cmd’, then ‘assoc’. 3rd row up from the bottom was my personal CLSID- 888DCA60FCOA 11CF 8FOF 00C04FD7D062 – He read this number out to me as My Personal Computer ID and proof that it was my computer sending the info to Microsoft, funny thing though is that my boyfriend has the same code!
4. Then we went to ‘My Computer’ and ‘right clicked’ on it and then ‘Manage’. After that I had to go into ‘Event Viewer’, then ‘System’ Oh my Jesus I have a lot of files in there which I shouldn’t have, and the same in somewhere else – can’t remember as I was losing interested in what he was saying..
5. He then took me to my Internal Software Security Protection which was not active. He asked me why I had not renewed after the first year – was this due to financial problems? Like I would tell him that!!!
It was at this point that he wanted me to go to www.support.me and let his technical person look at my computer. I pushed him then as to how much this was going to cost me and he told me that it would be FREE – yeah right – At this point I told him that I wanted more information about him and his company. He was after all a total stranger to me.
He was insistent that his company had the legal papers and everything as they were basically working in conjunction with Microsoft and had their authority to do this work on their behalf. I pushed him and he told me that the company name was Advance Support and that they were connected to Kalsoft. Website being – www.ekalsoft.com This website has on it that they were Microsoft’s Partner of the Year 2010. Sounds good and looks good.
After pushing him more and telling him that I work for a IT Technical Helpdesk and that I was going to speak to our Security team about this call. He was very reluctant to give me the information. Telephone number and address in Oxford as previous people have reported. 01865600898 and the address of Prama House 276 Banbury Road Oxford
What I find ridiculous is that a year after this number was first reported here it is still active.- Caller: Advance Support

- Johnny ScotlandThis is a scam number! I called Microsoft personally and they informed me that these people are nothing but a bunch of scammers, probably from India.
They basically try to convince you that your PC is loaded with viruses and that the only way that you can resolve this problem is by downloading their phoney "Fix".
This so-called fix, I have been informed by Microsoft, allows them to access your PC's information when you have downloaded it, they will also charge you for the "privilege" of this too.
Don't give them the time of day, call Microsoft yourself to verify this yourself if you are suspicious about this type of call, Microsoft informed me that they don't make these type of calls via the telephone to Microsoft users.
The guy who called me claimed that he was named "Ethan Parker" told me to give him my email address then informed me that I have to download software which I would have to pay for in order to renew my Microsoft Security Software with that organisation.
These people are very convincing so beware, do not get taken-in by these crooks.- Caller: either "Account Soft" or "Tech is online"
- Wendy SmithCall from this company saying that my computer was infected. I was suspicious straight away as my computer is fine and has not been slow as they suggested. The guy, Indian, said that they were calling on behalf of Microsoft. I was realy uncomfortable with this call.
