Claims they are from BT offering to flog you something you may not want.

They are in fact a company called Inter-County Communications Ltd.

    Sharks trawling for business.

I own Inter-County Communications and whilst we are an independent company, we operate solely under licence to BT. There is no hidden agenda, we work as part of BT Retail and provide a range of BT services to business customers in Stoke on Trent, Telford & Shrewsbury.
Try calling 01902 786600 and you will answered by a human being, based in Wolverhampton, who will be more than happy to provide no nonsense help with any telecom services.

I used to work under you a while back now, and we all know that this is not true.

The company is indeed BTLB (local business) which means you are in effect a 3rd party dealership.

All calls are presented with "BTLB Stoke how can i help" when in fact it should be "Inter-county Communications, how can i help?".

But saying that, calls are not recorded, which i am sure they should be.

    http://www.solidstatesound.co.uk/Telephone_rec_legal.htm#Recording customers

    Poorly ran business.

When i was left there, quite a few people left aswell due to the poor running.

Structures were poor with very limited experience.

    Not a pleasant environment.

Dave, with all due respect, if you worked for BTLB Stoke you would know that we work on behalf of BT as a franchise!! Ironic there's no mention of your name in any of our systems as a previous employee!!
We are in fact BT and work on behalf of them dealing with local businesses in Stoke and Shrewsbury area!
    We are not a reseller.

Probably best to check http://business.bt.com/btlocalbusiness/ to ensure they're still authorised.

There again why deal with a BT re-seller that could go bust when you can deal direct with BT?

BT can't go bust or the UK would telecoms would grind to a halt. Just be bailed out by us like the banks.

Tom, as I explained they are not a BT reseller! They are franchise working on behalf of BT, set up by BT, to sell BT products! The same as how McDonalds and Subway work, would you question them as a reseller?
The point of the local businesses being set up was so that companies did not have to ring a big call centre in BT but instead deal with BT more personally and have an account manager who will see over your account.

    Very poorly argued defence.

It doesn't remove the risk of being left high and dry when 'tiny telecom'  goes into liquidation does it?

There again if you eat in McDonalds & Subway I'm not surprised that you don't understand the real risk.

    BT? stands for [***] telecom

and the local business franchise is a pile of [***] to - they are there to scam and mislead customers to get there ayments from BT and leave BT and the customer to pick up and sort the mess.

BT should put it in the bin.

Guys I fully understand the sentiment on this message train but we should at least try and keep it civil or we will never get these problem companies sorted out.  I found this site as I had just had a call from this company on my home business line. If they are working for BT then why are they calling me as I already have my business line with BT?  Perhaps checking the facts before calling would help.  I have a TrueCall unit on my home phone line to stop this sort of thing and it works a treat.  Perhaps I should install one on my business line too.  This is about their 4th attempt to get hold of me.  As you appear to read these messages can you do a couple of things please.  1. Have the decency to leave a message on the answer service if you want to be seen as a genuine company.  2. If you have tried the number more than 3 times and you are not getting replied to please take the number off your database and stop calling it. 3. If you know who you are calling and you cannot get through then send them an email or better still a letter (do you remember that technology, it still works) and ask them to contact you if they are interested.

i dont think you understand how the business you work for operates, do you?

Are they your products that you sell, or are they someone else's - namely BT's?

i also happen to know, that you sell their products and receive a commission payment for doing so = THIS MAKES YOU A RESELLER.

and as you receive payments - most likely means you try and sell the services that make you the most money and not necessarily what the customer needs.

so why the hell when im not a BT customer & am not in the Stoke, Telford or Shrewsbury area etc (as the clown who owns the company outlines below) & am in Cambridgeshire, are they cold calling me wasting my time. Now we'll have the goalposts shifted & we'll no doubt get another reason/excuse, now we've proved thats not the reason tehy were calling.
My tip to everyone is induclge them give them a load of false details, get them to send you an info pack to a false address, even get an appointment for an "agent" of theirs to come see you & when he shows up, tell him to jog on & youve ben wasting his time, just ike his company is wasting yours & if he doesnt like it, then i suggest, as you have asked 20 times already, he removes you from the database! Whos creasting the problem - not you!! Just use them as a bit of sport like i do if im bored & driving on the way home, they get extremely frustrated if you change your address half way through the call, or start speaking Spanish, just anything to waste their time. Remember, they are teh only ones being paid in the conversation, so invite them to e-mail you to arrange an appointment for them to call you & that tehy need to pay in advance to speak to you & for your time! Why shouldnt you be paid for the call & your time - they are! Any please - they are NOT BT, they are franchised & work on behalf of. Legally tachnically there is a huge difference & should any of their employees etc tell you any diffeent, they need to eb very careful about what they are saying! They are really only trying to earn a living - fair play, but once you have told them you are not interested, you should not have to hear from them again, so no reason for them to get off with you if you mess them about teh next time they call.
if yove had enough of them, just keep calling up the number the "owner" in the previous blog gave out, waste 10 minutes of their time, then just put the phone down!
