TPS takes 28 days to kick in. Another couple of things.  If you have a previous or ongoing relationship with the calling company you must advise them that you do not want any more calls.  If you get further calls after that then you must report them to TPS.  I have noticed that a lot of people think that just registering will stop sales calls.  It doesn't, because you will always get companies breaking the rules.  Therefore you have to report any unsolicited sales call from a UK based company to TPS each time they ring.  I just wish TPS covered Market Research and overseas calls as well.  Heaven!

Today, 04/JAN/2012 got a call from this number, my wife took the call, he asked could he talk to me/ read my full name! But i was not there at the time he called

Its United Utilities. They called me as I have a problem with the water supply. Call legitimate in this case.

United Utilities, called me after I had applied for a water meter online.

United utilities. Its not always debt management or asking you to pay bills. They just rang me to let me know they have received my email about change of address and that i will receive a welcome letter in tge post. So ts not always bad unless you dont pay your bills! :-)

just got a missed call from this number, showed there was a message left but nothing is on our voicemail. Coincidently we are in the process of moving house and I am a 'new customer'.

talked nonsense down the line, it worked.

I had a call off this number and the voice mail said it was UU, but didn't go into details. I called them on the main number and asked them if they had called me. They confirmed they did and that they would call me back. When I asked what it was about he said it was to do with my new bill. I guess as I live alone I qualify for a single persons rebate, I guess they just wanted an update etc. But it is defo UU and a legit call in my case.

This is their outgoing display number, so will appear for leaks, acocunt questions, billing etc etc.

I leave my answer machine on always and any numbers which have called me more than a couple of times which I do not recognise I just wait to see if they record a message. - Of course this one did not -after looking up the number on who calls and seeing other comments it  now in  my phonebook as bad caller and a specific other ringtone, so I know never to answer this again and I do that with  all callers who do the same.   I have gotten so fed up with all this type of calls I decided to put a stop to them in my own way.   If they were genuine then they would leave a  message.

It may well be UU but who ever phoned me, it sounded like they was eating crisps, so I didn't speak. and they hung up after a few seconds.

Very strange call relating to my work and asking if I'd quote for a job, the job in question didn't make any real sense, when I tried to get their name and address to have a look at the job she said her name was Sally sauce, really?? And wouldn't give any further details just sounded too made up, I was very surprised when I call the number back out of curiosity and it said United utilities.
