Called 9:30 this morning and told me I have multiple viruses on my computer (I don't as my computer is very well protected). Foreign accent which blasphemed several times (I might have annoyed him!). He wanted to gain remote access to my computer but my firewall prevented him from getting in. I was able to waste nearly half an hour of his time. I got an address out of him: 3 Broadway, Westminster, London, W1S 2EX. He accused me of being computer illiterate (which I am very not!). Eventually he gave up and hung up. I would recommend never allowing outsiders any access to your computer unless you request it from a reputable company.

Further to my last post (above) I telephoned back to the number they gave me and it turns out to be the Metropolitain Police. I explained to them where I had got the number from and they will 'look into it'.

Like Stephen, I just got a call from a lady with a Caribbean accent claiming to be from Windows Support. I could hear a lot of background noise so I asked if she was cold calling but she said it was nothing like that. Kept calling me 'marm'. She said I had multiple viruses and my computer was sending error messages to Windows Support. She asked me to press the windows flag at the bottom of the keyboard and the letter 'r' to bring up a box into which I was to type some letters, which would enable me to see what the problem was. The letters began  'e v e n t' and as she was going on, I asked how she got my telephone number. She said it had been registered when I first got the computer. Although I had been suspicious when she first called, I was even more so now as I've moved house twice since I got the computer and had different phone numbers. So, I stopped putting her letters in and asked for her phone number, saying I'd call her back. Yes, she gave me the number of the Metropolitan Police. I looked it up but didn't call it. Aren't these people a bore! I suspect she was trying to gain remote access.

My grandmother got a call from someone with a foreign accent  citing this number as they "suspected suspicious activity in her bank account". Number is Met Police and they even went so far as to give an officer and number! Never give out information to anyone who has called you.

Called 08.20am claiming to be from TalkTalk Technical Support. Got short shrift form me.

I received call morning and they try to deportation of some cases in Turkey. And they asked my bank account how much money I have. When said no money they try to arrest me and hang to phone. When I contact met police they said scam call be careful do not give any details them. And do not make any action. Tell them I am going to near police stations and sort myself.

I received a few missed calls from this Nebraska and when I called back, it was MET police. They told me that if the police tried to contact then it would be from a withheld number.

Today at 8:47 and 8:49 received call from this number claiming they are calling from Metro Police. These type of incidents happened to be before as well on name of HMRC so I cut the call from End. I found his accent very fish, Seems he is Pakistani trying to speak British accent.
Its really hard to understand how they bounce the call from legitimate number.

I too received a call today claiming they are calling from Metro Police. Even True Caller app displayed it as New Scotland Yard addressed at Broadway(it is easy to manipulate apps like this). Incidentally that Police station at that address is closed long back.
Dear Mr Scamster, I know you will be reading this message..stop fooling people. Get better ways to make your living.

I received a call from this number & person (named 'John or Jon') claimed to be a metropolitan police official.
First I was asked to move away from everyone on the excuse of poor n/w coverage & background & after ensuring I am isolated from others , I was accused of charges by HMRC in UK & in my home country.
I was threatened with arrest (& my family back in my country will be arrested too) in next few hours if I do not cooperate. Also , I was warned against disconnecting the call,  saying -you would face severe actions (arrest & deport) if I do so.
He kept dodging my question of nature of charged filed against me, with a very arrogant & harsh warnings & finally asked my address for verification so that they send all the docs.
This was the point I told them I am walking to the nearest police office & let's sort it out there  & then he told (apparently to his scamster colleague ) 'that this guy is not listening & let's send a unit to get him in the office' & hung up.

Two points out of this
1. HMRC  contacts the employer if they need to do any communication & sends official notice/written communication & they have our addresses

2. No British official will ever speak in the harsh tone & rude language these ass*** use.

I received a call today around 9 o clock from this number. They knew my name and where I was from and wanted my passport number because someone filed a case against me in my home country and said if I don't cooperate they will arrest me. I asked him if we can do this in a police station then he said he will send the police to my address right now and then he started abusing and I just disconnected the  call.

its not a ppolice number its a scam

just called this number and they said its a non emergencey number

that phone number and address is for the old Scotland Yard HQ of The Metropolitan Police in London - how they have piggybacked that I have no idea

02072301212 is the actual number of Scotland Yard - they must have piggybacked the number - also being used for the BT scam

i got a call from d.s. philpot of belgravia police station, also a call from a d.c. ? same station. both claimed to be in the metropolitan police.  numbers used are   =0207 230  1212   and 0207 321 8257.    scam callers again  so i just refered them to a taxidermist........
