I had a missed call, the number came up on my iPhone as "Blocked" and a voicemail was left, it wasn't particularly clear but I made it out to say the following:

"This is a message for Colin Bates, this is Sally from TRL you need to call back today on 02083396363 when you call back you need to quote your reference number which is 1246xxx"

As it was quite muffled the 2 names and what I assume is the company weren't 100% clear, so this is my best guess.

These are debt collectors, i had the same muffled message as above and when i phoned they told me i owed them money and that they were collecting it on behalf of the utility warehouse.  They claim to of sent me 3 letters when I have never received anything.

i have just had a call from them, on my mobile, regarding an old account which they wouldnt tell me what it was for due to data protection. they took the usual security details but wasnt happy with my answers! they said they couldnt proceed as it was for an account i held from a previous address! i went back on addresses 8 years and they said they couldnt proceed! i said it all sounds a bit fishy to me and he said not to worry about it and hung up!

This is a debt collection company who another company has sold a debt to and they are trying to get it paid.

They left a message on my phone for someone that I dont know with a reference number asking me  to call them. they did call me yesterday as well. it seems that something is wrong with them.

This is a con. Anyone reading this should place the number in the caller ID and put 'Do Not Answer'. They are 'VILCO' who trawler through lists of unpaid claims etc and then chance their arm to try and get you to pay off a bill you didn't owe in the first place. Then they simply pocket the cash and the so called debt still remains. I know I am a Lawyer!

I have just received a call from these people via my mobile phone, stating that they need to speak to my father, I rang them and told them that my father had passed away in June of last year and that I was his daughter. I asked what it was about and they said that it was about an account he had, the only account my father had was the joint account with myself towards the end of his life. They are going to ring me on my landline - supposedly, what do I do ????

Do not take the call.

This DCA has bought a load of cheap debts at £1 in the £100 and are chancing a result.

The debts of the dead are uncollectible and die with the debtor.

They are simply attempting to get you to acknowledge 1) your identity 2) that you are responsible for them

Complain to the OFT about any DCA doing this and they will revoke their DCA licence

Reading through the other complaints it appears to be a scam operation anyway by a bogus DCA

I was wrong, Vilcol are NOT bogus, they exist.

Their turnover has dived though.

If there is a legitimate debt, only ever pay it back to the original debtor, or you may get chased twice or even thrice. They re-sell debts like cupcakes. Never acknowledge who you are or any debt to a DCA.

Unfortunately this is a genuine debt collection company, they do not keep the money it is passed on to their client, they may be a bully and there are a couple if nice collectors.

NO SUCH LEGAL POWERS.

Got a call from this number and after searching the number and it coming up as a scam i blocked the number they have now resorted to calling from various different mobile numbers

Had a call from these guys stating i had an unpaid debt to a homemaker co. Couldnt tell me who then i received a letter, watch out guys just acon to get your money they dnt actually pay iff your debt
