This is a debt collection agency called Lion Finance. They have purchased your debt (for peanuts) and are looking to find you to come to an arrangement that best suits them. I have dealt with them in the past when a friend had financial troubles. They are rude, crude and will not stop harassing you until they get what they want. They will stop at no lengths to get to you, contacting friends, family, employers, co-workers, etc. An evil bunch, but don't take my word for it, deal with them and see for yourself!

They go by the name of Lion Finance, but they are actually part of a group called Collection House - www.collectionhouse.com.au
They have a legal arm called Jones King (ruthless bunch) - will work every trick in the book (and more sometimes) to get 'their' money even if it means more than the original debt. Trust me, I have dealt with these guys before and it took us years to get out of their clutch!

I received a phone call this afternoon from 02 4908 7288 and the calling person straight away asked my date of birth. Part of my first name and last name match with the person he is looking for.

He said its regarding private business and won't tell me the details until i confirm my DOB. I was bit curious to know because this was the second time he called me (i missed the call earlier). When i confirmed my DOB, he tried to confirm one of the addresses in Sydney where i never lived and when i mentioned him about my full first name, he said "Oh no you are not that person". and then hung up.

I was bit suspicious after that call until i find this site and read about debt recovery mafia. There are people around who use your basic details and try to dodge banks or other utility companies. You are completely unaware until you receive a bill or any infringement notice.

Keep getting these calls.  I simply give them random dates of birth and addresses and tell them nothing.  They will track you down like a dog if they have to.  They also go to any lengths to get your details.  I had one who went through the electoral role to find my next door neighbour and phoned them to get my number.  What they don't realise is that people change names.  My married name can be identical to someone's maiden name and as we all know women quite often have accounts in both married and single names.

Why should you give them your details - how do we know they are who they say they are - they may be criminals phoning to get personal details to use to steal identities.

Lion Finance buys your debt for nothing and tries to intimidate you by sending bikie gangs to collect the money you owe.

Some Bikie Gang who works for Lion Finance tries to profit from money you owe with someone else. They would buy your debt for nothing and profit for free from scaring you into submission by sending thugs and bikie gangs to collect the debts.

Do not answer their calls hang up and get a restraining order on them.

I get a phone call from them at least twice daily. I never answer as I don't answer numbers I don't know. I'm glad I haven't. But it is very frustrating.

A female called me from this number telling me she was looking for a relative and was hoping I would be able to help her.  She stated his name was Jason Boyd and was he a relative of mine.  When I said no she was happy with that and thanked me for my help.  Bit suss

You can put a complaint to ASIC as its a company. Also , Financial Ombudsman. There are severe penalties for any company discussing your debt with anyone else.

Had a missed call from this number , I rang it back and got asked my name and date of birth , address
When I asked what the call was about , She said she couldnt tell me unless I gave her all my details.
I then asked why there was 70 odd complaints about this number/Company, she became abusive and confused
She said they must have been looking for a family member and that they will find them other ways
Bit strange . I would happily take another call from them , Just to give them a serve

Just block the number if you can, otherwise do not reveal any personal information, and do not even admit you are the person they are looking for.

I have received several calls from this number.  They were chasing two different neighbours for money and hoping I could help.

They were also more than happy to remove my number from their system.
