I had a missed call from 02 9027 8000 as well. It is actually optus, it is there sales department. Normally if your nearing or have come to the end of your phone contract they will be trying to sell you more. This is confirmed. it's not a dodgy number.

Call at   while I was working  and cound not answer.  Called number back later and a female Filipino accented recording indicated it is OPTUS and then gives some other 13 numbers relating to Optus. And then for a specific OPTUS employee call them at their office.
I am very wary of out of the blue calls from OPTUS. They always try to sign you up to something without letting you see it in writing first and also tell you that they are recording the call.  They are having it both ways.

I got the call twice today and if it is optus I will never go back to them ever

just ignore it. it is from optus, but they are just advertising [***]. i usually give them 5 seconds then i say "no thanks." and hang up.

I got miss called from 02 90278000 often and also the called last night 9.05 pm on 15/09/10 its not very nice to called after business hr.

I had a call from this Number, and it was a guy called Andy from Optus looking for someone I had never heard of.  I just told him he had the wrong number!

yeah, I got two missed calls a day from this number... didn't ring long enough for me to answer.

I finally did get to answer (after 4 days) and it was some survey they wanted to do about the experience I had with from a few days before.. Here I was worried that they were going to cut my phone off as the call they were refering to was a payment extension request.

had a call from this number stating they were optus.  Told them I wanted to know how they
got my number, he just kept blabbing on, told him I wanted to speak to his supervisor as
I was not impressed.  He hung up.  When I contacted optus they checked the number and said
it had nothing to do with them.  They were interested to know that people were quoting that
they were optus when in fact they are not.  Now I know why I never use optus.

It's Optus Technical support.  The guy rang my mobile to test my sim card that I have been having issues with.  I have been with them for 11 years now and they are most obliging and helpful.  Telstra could take a leaf from their book.

I had 2 missed calls I googled the number and read all the comments and then deleted the number I have my number on the do not call registered.

After checking my mobile account details today and finding my balance was considerably less than I had thought I checked with my mobile service provider (Vodaphone) and found they had a call to 0290278000 listed. As I know I have not phoned this number I unsuccessfully tried to check who it belonged to on the internet (phone number checking). I can't work out who owns the number, what is happening, or how I was billed for it.

It's Optus Business calling customers to try and sell them stuff on their existing account. Ignore it, no point in answering it unless you want something.

I registered with DoNoCall yesterday to stop getting calls from 0281983820 and then today i get two or three short calls from 0290278000... These calls are really starting to get on my nerves...

Optus  but they called me 3 times for a short ring before leaving a message about my qantas frequent flyer points

I normally don't answer unknown numbers either because they usually just want to sell something or ask for donations

yeh it's just optus, no real scam, just some people who want to bother you, doesn't matter who your with they call everyone; optus and otherwise, just pick it up and then hang up and they'll go away, ot at least bother you less than if you keep ignoring it, or just answer and talk to them for a bit, sometimes their just as bored as you and it's laugh. peace.
