Several telephone calls from them. They call about my domestic appliance renewal and they use a very similar name to my actual insurance provider. They then lie and claim that the policy is with them and they just want to do a good deal for renewals.

I was suspicious so telephoned my actual provider and they confirmed the call was not from them.

This is a scam. The callers are dishonest and will call repeatedly.

I recommend you block this number immediately.

Yet another domestic insurance scam. They seem to have a ton of numbers supposedly from different area codes. Annoying parasites.

Claim to be from Hotpoint domestic appliance insurance, either guessed correctly or obtained data when we originally purchased our washing machine. Either way we had not taken out any extended warranty, so it cannot have been due for renewal . Claimed to be calling from Brighton but was very English name, with not a very English accent.
