Report a phone call from 02922770203 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Derek| 3 repliesThis is a Cardiff based company presumably providing energy/insulation advice. The number called when I was not available however I called the number on my return withholding my number. A recorded message stated that withheld numbers were blocked. I called again without withholding my number and the call was answered by a lady stating that she had called on behalf of an energy company offering replacement loft insulation. She went on to advise that this follows recent discovery that many loft insulation products cause respiratory problems and the British Lung Foundation recommend that glass mineral wool based insualtion be replaced for safety reasons and to protect the health of the home owner and/or occupier. The call ended abruptly when I stated that many insulation products cause respiratory irritation and this fact is well known. I further stated that if you are not going into an environment containing such insulation there is no risk at all. In the event that you do go into your loft it is pefectly safe provided you do not start doing something that casuses major disturbance of the installed product. Many homes that have loft storage space have no risk of disturbance where the insulation is covered with boarding that the home owner or occupier can walk safetly on and place items upon it for long term storage. I suspect that the caller is trying to "scare" people into agreeing to have their loft surveyed which will lead to a "hard sell" for a replacement product. Often elderley people agree to work that is not really necessary just to get the survey or follow up sales person to leave their home or to end a long telphone call. I cannot be sure of the true intent of the caller from this number. I am however sure of the health and safety risks that I have mentioned as I have spent over 40 years in construction and routinely carry out method statements and risk assessments in relation to the installation of insulation products.

"Fibreglass
Fibreglass is a type of building insulation. Like asbestos, if disturbed it becomes part of the dust in the air and can be easily breathed in. Fibreglass is safer than asbestos, but it still comes with risks if you breathe it in. It can irritate the airways, and if you live with a lung condition and breathe it in, you may see your symptoms get worse.
If you have fibreglass in your home, don’t disturb it. If you come into contact with it, wear a mask and protective clothing." - B-Edwards replies to John84757599967867547478339287| 1 replyNot sure what you or the OP are playing at. People getting an unwanted call are mostly interested in knowing the nature of the call and if the call/caller can be trusted.
After close to 460 words in only 2 posts, I have no idea what the call was really about or why you both are posting educational pieces about asbestos. A scam was sorta implied, but I am not sure there was even a call received. OP reads more like a treatise and tells me more about the asbestos history and safety protocols than I need to know when all that is important is Safe vs Scam.
A simple "Call from asbestos removal company - sales call posing as survey, possible scam" would save readers a lot of time and get right to the point at a savings of 445 words. - post pending moderator approval
