The scam is as follows.  If you had fallen for his lie that you had already paid them from your account, he would have asked you to give him your bank details again to confirm that they had the right information.  Bingo!! They now have your bank details and can raid your account.  Luckily you did not let it get that far.  Of course they do not have your bank details and a check will show they have not taken anything from your account.  Clever, though, isn't it?  Another way of doing the same scam is to say that, as you don't want the service, they will refund the money they have taken from your account.  "Just give us your bank details to confirm we have the right information and we will refund you."  Same result.

I've just had a call from a Mark Robson (although he had a very foreign accent) - the same thing as above - he needed to verify my bank details although he started by saying I'd already paid then said it had come out of my account this am when I wouldn't verify my bank details and told him he better not have taken any money without my consent he hung up (the £49 hasn't been taken from my account)..............Like others have said previous posts the ironic thing is he is a nuisance call like he's saying he's stopping!!

Just received a call from a 'representative' of Procomm claiming I had given authorisation for £49 to stop nuisance calls and they had already taken payment.
I haven't agreed to such a service or payment but he was very insistent that I had but when I suggested that this sounds like a conn and asked which bank account / card number they had used he got very agitated.
He first claimed it was a debit card number and then a credit card.
After much persuasion he finally gave me the name of Alex Roberts but wouldn't give me full his company details address etc. It was obvious that this wasn't his real name as he had a strong accent possibly Indian.
    He eventually hung up.
Its seems to be a scam fishing for card numbers and identity / bank details.
