He wants you to send money to a chinese address using western union. LOL  send nothing its a scam along with quite a few others that use the same SMS messages if you cant talk to them on the phone don't waste your time, They have such interesting stories to convince you to part with your money DON"T.

Got this in a text msg only a couple of hours after posting an ad on carsales.

"I will like to know if your car is still available and what is the firm price, get back to me on (jonyoliver7890@gmail.com) for easier contact"

Googled that email address and found this post, thanks for the heads up. Hope people aren't getting scammed by this low life.

I just received the exact same message.  Note the sending number was masked, just "John". Note name is spelt in email address as "Jon...".  Western Union scam. I haven't replied, known someone who did and asked me how to send money via Western Union or PayPal online, which is when I cottoned onto it.  What they do is say they're overseas, but they want to buy for their son/daughter whomever and will arrange a transport company to come and collect it.  The transport company needs payment upfront before they will collect it, they ask you to pay the small amount around $60 this one was, and they will reimburse you along with the whole sale amount once confirmed they're on their way.
Commonsense would prevail...both are worldwide payment instruments, if that be the case, why can't they just pay the transport company direct...duh.

happened to me too

Posted an add this morning trying to sell my car on gumtree and got the same text message from 'John' saying "I will like to know if your car is still available and what is the firm price, get back to me on (jonyoliver7890@gmail.com) for easier contact", I furthered to say it was available and the reply i got just seemed abit off to me, saying he was a sailor out at sea atm and he was buying it for his sons 21st who lived in darwin, offered an extra $300 for me to take the add down and pass through my bank account or paypal details so he could sort out the payment and organise a transport to come and collect. Thought it was abit dodge when i was reading it so took it to the IT dep at work and they were fairly quick to tell me not to reply any further.

Yup he's at it again, this time offering the asking price for my yacht, on Gumtree. Alarm bells rang when he said he'd get a courier to pick it up....doh, it's a 29ton steel boat...nice try Ramond Jak - raymondjak02@gmail.com.
