How do I block this number

this number called twice within a couple of days each time they hang up

06 5266 7789 called my business line/mobile number yesterday 22/11/2013 and again today 23/11/2013. Hangs up each time.  When I called back that number is not connected.  06 is not an area code that exists in Australia any more but it used to be ACT.  Has not existed since Australia when to 10 digit telephone numbers.

Got a call from 06-5266-7789   line was quiet until a couple of clicks and then there was lots of background noise (call center in India) and the operator asked *How are you today* .  
I asked the purpose of the call, and they went in to a pitch about an *Important Study*. I asked who was doing the study and they kept going. When I answered their question with the question - who was doing the study?, they hung up.  I have reported the date, time and number to the ACMA.

The new telemarketing scam is to call claiming to be doing a survey (legal under ACMA) but at the end of the survey, they tell you that you are now qualified to receive telemarketing calls (they say it quickly) so by doing the survey, you have opted in to receive telemarketing calls (quasi legal).

The ACMA says although it is legal to call DO NOT CALL numbers for surveys, when asked WHO is doing the survey, they have to give an Australia organization, their location in Australia, and their contact info. If they do NOT, it is an violation of the ACMA.  

So when they call, ask for what Australia organization, their location in Australia, and their contact info?

I failed to answer and I tried to call them back and got a Telstra message "your call could not be connected."

I then googled the number, and like Shona, I'm glad I did!

This is my second missed call in 5 days from that number.

Have had numerous calls from this number.  I answered today and he said his name was Martin.  I asked them to stop ringing my number and he just laughed...I hung up feeling very annoyed.  

Received 2 calls today so far from this number I have not answered as it is a 06 number so therefore not within Australia

They claimed they got my number from the white pages, yet our home number has been privately listed for over 10 years. I've informed them they are causing stress, anxiety and are harassing us because it is a breach of privacy and I have their number and they will be receiving a call from my solicitor. :)

Calls me everyday and it hang up straight away.

I got called just now.  I hung up before the first call connected when I detected a call centre.  They rang back not one minute later.  Guy wouldn't let me speak.  I just spoke over him saying wasn't interested and then hung up.  Scum operators for sure.

I missed a call from this number at 7.30 last night. I received another call this morning at 11.30 but did not answer it. When I called it back it is not connected. I am also on the Do Not Call register. Surely something can be done about these phone calls!!

This guy won't stop. I can block the number from my iphone so they can't get through. But I get them pretty much every day on my home phone. It's nice to see that I'm not the only person with this problem.

These immoral barstuds call just about every day, but after a few rings always hang up. If I see the number in the caller window, I don't even bother answering any more. Unfortunately, my wife can't see the number without reading glasses. It's highly inconvenient to be rushing to the phone just because these morons won't stop.

I tell them it is none of their business whether I work or not and then tell them to "F" off, a word I wouldn't use in my normal vocabulary, but they don't like you using that word.  I find it really strange that all these scam callers have Asian accents!!!!!!!     I am registered on the Do Not Call register, but makes no difference with these calls.

These morons need to be exposed! Answer them and they hang up. Grrr!
