Got a call from this number on my display during my vacation in Tahiland.
Anyone knows who this number belongs to?

Got two calls from this number this evening. When I answered the first time, just got the dialling tone. Did 1471 and number started 06666. Did not answer the second time, same number.

Rang today, no message.

I got a call from this number today and the person said they were from Windows and my PC was running with critical errors. They were quite insistent that I went on my PC while they were on the phone and they would talk me through some actions I could perform to make my system run correctly. I have no idea how they got my number and it sounded a wee bit dodgy to me!

Was called today by 06666 (found out after by dialing 1471). When I answered, no one spoke, then an automated voice said "goodbye".

was phoned today and a man said he was from windows and my computer had errors, i told him i didn't have a computer and hung up

Same Story - "I'm James (ho ho) and i'm calling from the technical dept of Windows".  I interrupted - "Oh no you're not!" - it then became a pantomime sketch - I hung up.

phishing scam to get into your computer. indian gentleman james smith tries to get into a conference call via www.join.me to "fix" errors in system files. his senior is michael james ' gives 020 8133 6507 as uk no. to call which is used as cable & wireless.

The "Windows Technical Department" is a dodgy operation, They are nothing to do with windows and what they actually do is, if you tolerate them that is, talk you through a reboot of your computer using the technicians 191.22 or 192.66 references and they gain remote access to your computer, You then see a list of supposed bugs which conveniently disappear and then they claim to have cleaned your computer, What they have actually done is plant a worm or a virus that, as soon as you hang up, activates and looks directly for financial details. They are known about and I have reported them. However, the normal "because they arr off shore (Usually India, Pakistan or on one of the German borders) they can't be dealt with.

Have the government not got technology to target scams like this one.  

Just had the same call about my computer SCAMMERS

Wife has just answered the phone and these jokers were on the other end trying to access info to our computer. They would not have called had they known who they were dealing with. The upshot of the call was that the wife told them to "bu...er off".

When I hear the accent and his intro I ask 'Have you got a big black bushy beard'.
He rings off PDQ

THIS IS A SCAM PHISHING NUMBER. If you answer and there is an automated voice saying goodbye they know the line is active and you will then get other scam calls!
I had number display activated on my phone, I block known numbers and don't answer ones I'm not sure of, they usually are international and only have 5 digits!

We've had several attempts by these 'thieving scammers' to access peoples computers. When the foriegn (Asian or Indian) gent stated "that they had spotted that my computer was showing some errors in it's operating system". I asked "So which one is it? Either you have 'illegally' accessed my computer, or your a lying B*****d!!" The guy hung up. What a surprise ...

These numbers are now automatically blocked.

got a call from this number 06666, saying there was a problem with windows when I said I think your a hoax they put the phone down

Just had them hanging on while I said I had to switch on and would be a while ! Let them pay for calls made long distance .I have no such computer so knew it was a scam .

Number left on system. Don't know who they were.
