they call for one second it does not come up on my phone but i get charged approx 35p per call and they phone 10 times a month how can i stop this

I have just discovered that every week we get charged approx 44p for a call we never make to this number on our landline. Bill shows calls last between 26-50 seconds so can only assume that answer machine kicks in and we are then charged.

Just found that I had an unexpected high phone bill, due to calling this 07785499993 number. It turned out to be Vodaphone SMS TAP service, which my house security system would call when the alarm is triggered, in order to send me a warning SMS text.
Years back my installer mentioned that the Vodaphone SMS TAP service would be switched off, and it had happened recently. If your security system is maintained, you should ask for an alternative solution. Otherwise you may have to just stop the system dialling this expensive number.
