- Silly Servant replies to ShurlesIt's SSA. The reason they don't do security on outbound calls is because your number is taken from the government database, if you didn't provide it then they won't have a number to call you on. Another reason security is not asked is because they will not divulge any info (data protection) so security is not required. These people are genuine Civil Servants who are trying to help. Not everything is a scam (or spam as you stated). If you're lucky enough to get called again then pick up. And they would not have asked if your medical notes had been passed to PIP. What they probably asked is if PIP had contacted you yet regarding the switch over and re-assessment.

- Debbie replies to DWThis is wrong. I got called 5 times from this number today & got left 3 voicemails from a woman called Shannan saying she would ring me back. She claimed to be ringing from the department of communities to talk about a loan I'd applied for. I had already spoke to someone the day before about my loan & my loan was granted and everything was sorted so I was confused as to why they were ringing me again & from this number as they normally ring on a private number. I didn't wait for her to ring back. I went online, got the number for the department of communities & rang them myself. They told me that this number is not one of theirs and that I shouldn't have gotten a call as there wasn't any reason to. Always be careful when on the phone as people who pull scams can sound so legit. Never give your details especially bank details over the phone. If ever in doubt tell who ever that's claimed to be calling that you will ring them back then go online & find the official number on their website (if it's a call claiming to be from benefit office then go to the benefit website etc etc) and confirm with them whatever it is they said the query was.
- Paul Malone replies to graceI got a text telling me to call the Employment Support Allowance on a number that I looked up and it was genuine. When I called she said it was a bad line and called me back on this number. I was suspicious and called it back after the call. There was a recorded message from the benefits office. It seems to be a benefits office number for outgoing calls only. They only asked for my address details which have changed recently, so it wasn't an unexpected call.
