Got letters from "HM Government" ... letter was opened and ripped and resealed--- badly that it didnt stick...
inside was a letter claiming im intitled to free housing work... I DONT HAVE A HOUSE.. I live with my mum.. why would i get free housing work on a house i do not own or rent???
this number is plastered over the letter saying i have to call with my full name and address and who my electric company is, then it says to quote the number on the bottom of the letter for tracing and connection puposes...
DODGY? Why do they need to trace it or need my name and address if they already have it?
...oh and i rang this number on my old phone and
the man who asked said "hello and welcome to the interlational health helpline serverisis" (sounded like a foreign country)
.... i therefore do NOT trust th - AlanI got exactly the same letter. Claimed to be from the government and even gave a web address to check. Checked the link and it's non existent. Redirects you to the government website on how to save money on electricity bills.
Don't know about first poster but I'm in Manchester and got the letter to my home which I only rent. - Lynda - LondonMy 81 year old mother got this letter and luckily didn't ring the number. I dread to think what sort of con this is. Exactly the same type of letter as two above.

The letter asked for name, address, phone number and electricity supplier.
I'm taking it to Trading Standards (although I bet that I won't be the first to do so) - AngryGot one this morning. Definitely a con. There will probably be a a number menu that will patch you through to a premium rate number.

- Helen| 1 replyMy Mother has just received one of these letters, the address on the back is PO Box 585 Belfast BT1 1DW. The letter didn't look right so am going to destroy it.
- Sue Alexandar @ GM Energy Advice Service replies to HelenI have received a call from an elderly customer this morning (she contacted her Housing Association who gave her our number) she was worried about a similar letter and asked if I could check/find out the details of this HM Government letter - reference FPG44P - like you, I cannot find any relevant information.
If you need insulation at your property then I would suggest you contact your local Council office and ask if they have an insulation scheme available.
If you are based in the Greater Manchester area, then I can confirm there is a 'GET ME TOASTY' scheme for free insulation (Council funded) please call us on 0800 009 3363 or apply on line at www.getmetoasty.com - ChezzaI actually had a bloke turn up on my doorstep - showed me the type of letter i should have received from government. He was in a big standard blue t-shirt, had no id and no literature. He gave me this number for me to get more info. So glad i stood firm and didn't sign anything / let him in!!
