I got a call from this number today caliming to be Nationwide Building Society. I did not answer it and they left a message asking me to call back urgently. I went into the branch and they confirmed that no one has tried contacting me from Nationwide. THIS IS A SCAM!

It is not a Scam, i had a call and answered it as id applied for a job they were calling em back

I am getting calls from this number and I am NOT a customer of Nationwide.

This IS a Nationwide number.

If you have a missed call from the number 0800 281 801, please do not be concerned; this is a genuine Nationwide number. One of our consultants has tried to contact you, and was unable to speak to you on this occasion. If you dial this number you will hear a recorded message informing you that Nationwide Building Society attempted to contact you, and that we will try again at a later date.
We tend to avoid leaving details of why we called on answering machines. This ensures we don't disclose personal information to anyone who may hear the message.

This is nationwide, my mr's works there and anytime she rings this is the generic number that comes through from all the branches not just your own!

Definitely Nationwide, left me a VM confirming an appointment I have with them on Tuesday.

I am NOT and never have been, nor will be, a Nationwide customer, call from 0800 281801 was at 7:50pm, which woke baby up I'd just gotten off to sleep. If it's a scam I'm annoyed, if it's legitimate I'm annoyed as not a customer. If I was a customer I'd be annoyed as I do NOT want calls from any business, crooks (spammers) or banks (crooks) after regular business hours and no sales calls EVER, if I want anything, I'll call them. And no, I don't want to turn off the phone as it could be a call from someone I do want to speak to.

The number is GENUINE. The scam uses this number so you think they are genuine. They can then call you back without you being suspicious.

Its not a conspiracy its a bank :/

I was called yesterday (03.02.2020) by this telephone number purporting to be the Nationwide Building Society
regarding a PPI claim.

This is a scam they call me everyday even tho they put the phone down when I said its a scam I have called nationwide every time and they have said nobody has called me

This is a classic case of NUMBER SPOOFING and PHISHING!

This is a scam as I've been asked for all my security details from a man saying his name is George James from nationwide,I didn't give him details,I rang nationwide and they said they hadn't tried to call me , George James is going to get a volley if he calls again,the mug fraudster

I received a call from 0800281081 claiming to be from Nationwide. The guy almost knew every information Nationwide holds about me. I told him that I have never received a call from this number. He started asking me questions but I stopped him. He then said he would email me so I can trust this number but never received the email. Nationwide is a mess when it comes to Security, GDPR and data protection. The guy had an Iranian accent. After this incident I switched my account.
