A recorded message said this call was from the Nationwide fraud team, and that there is some unusual activity on my card. They gave me a phone number to call, or press any key to hear advice on card fraud. I did not write the number down, or press for advice, as advice on the television said your bank/building society will never phone you. Was this a scam? Did I do the right thing ignoring this call, as will check with Nationwide anyway.

Checked on a Nationwide web site, it looked ok, got a mini statement, that was fine. When I went into my local branch with this number, they said it was a scam. Always do some checks before replying to this type of call, and please remind older relatives to phone you if they are not sure. They also phoned me back one and a half hours later.

This is the Nationwide fraud team, it is NOT a scam. I had a call from them, but saw a previous post on here saying it was a scam so ignored it. When they called for a third time I decided to go through the number on the website, and there was a problem with my card!

I just had a call from this number and I am worried or do I go in to the bank in the morning

Just had an automated call from ‘Nationwide fraud Department’.    I am not with Nationwide.
The call came directly through on my landline, although I have a call protection that usually Kicks in first.

I had two recorded calls from someone today claiming to be from Nationwide.
Today is a Sunday.
I will go to my Nationwide branch and confirm it is a scam.
If they say it is genuine I will submit another post on this website
