number was used in an email i got.

Hi Erica, please beware, i have received an email from mycare@o2mail.co.uk asking me to call this number and pay off a overdue payment to o2! although I am PAYG.

I called o2 customer services from my phone and they told me to ignore the email as it is not genuine! And to call my bank to check they have not tried to take money from my account!

Yes it is actually o2! it would seem that email was genuine i.e. from o2, but mistakenly sent to you / someone has fraudulently used your details. Call the number and check this was a mistake.

this number is a scam..i got cheated out of £39 for a call i didnt make...be careful

I just rang this number cos got a fone bill saying we made a call from this number and apparently its 02. No one in my house has a 02 fone. i have had many of these calls on my bill and have not made such phone calls charging me 29 p -45 p.

Just got an SMS from this number saying that I need to call for help with WAP and MMS message on my phone. I have had th ephone for 18 months with no problem so must be a hoax

I just got a text from 2030 saying it's o2 also saying I need their help to use Wap and Mms. I just upgraded yesterday and am waiting for my new phone, so had this one 17 months and use internet all the time! Unsure if it's a hoax or not, but my internet's fine anyway so no need to call them!

I just phoned this number and it was O2, you can also look it up on the O2 website if your unsure, it comes up as a returns number but it is something to do with upgrades. And as far as I'm aware I haven't been charged for the call :)

I received a text about MMS  and Wap and like others dont understand why as I can already use MMS and WAP

This number is definately o2 as it has this contact number for contract phones on the o2 website
Calls to 0844 numbers cost 5p per minute you can check this on several websites for call rates.

If you are on o2 you can dial 202 free of charge and ask them about the number

I've just received the same texts.  Rang the 4445 number which is o2 customer service and they were a bit confused as my phone is already configured correctly and has been active for six months.  The cost of the phone call was also refunded.

i phoned O2, to check this and its their number and its genuine, but you can contact them on 202 anyway

I had this message from 2030 (o2):

"O2: If you'd like to use Wap or Mms on this phone we'll need to help, so please call us free on 08448090202"

After having just changed on tarrif, so assume it was related to that, number appears to be real - but it's not free, thats a 5p/min number. Would suggest ringing o2 on 202 to avoid charges if you want to check anything, but my internet and mms are still fine. Sounds like a computer problem from their end.

o2 dont charge for calling this number - I think they just deduct the minutes from your call plan. I've called the number, its on my bill but no cost.

My husband received a text from 2030 saying they where O2, my husband rang O2 and they stated that they never sent the text and that it is a scam do not ring that number and plus 0844 numbers are not free!!!

I've received an email from o2 telling me my account was in arrears. Odd, because I'm with Vodafone. The number is genuine - it looks as though some thieving b@stard has stolen my identity. o2 currently looking into it.

My telephone bill ( LW 55200330 Q094 S2 )  dated 8 Jan 2013 showed that I phoned 08448090202 , destination ,  Special service, on Tue 1 Jan 2013 at 15:45  for 14 minutes 11 seconds  and then again the same number on Wed 2 Jan 2013 at 15:36 for 12  minutes and 32 seconds and then again the same number  on Wed 2 Jan 2013 at 15: 59 for 12 minutes 5 seconds. The cost shown is £ 2 . 390

I or any one in my household DID NOT dialed these numbers

I shall be grateful if any one could tell me as to why I have been charged this amount of money.

I've discovered the same problem on my phone bill. I've been charged about the same amount but have no recollection of making this call. Who's your phone provider?

just checked my virgin bill  same number comes up on my phone section 17th Jan 3 times in the space of 15 min now I know I did not make these calls especialy after 7pm going to phone virgin and find out what is going on oh and the cost for these is £1.57

Just received my virgin land line bill for march. this states a call to this number on Feb 9th at 1920, No 02 phones in the house, And we were away in London that week!! am investigating.

I was given this number by O2 as a UK contact number, having had very limited progress from their online chat facility.  They want to put prices up but I've had 2 faulty contract phones from them!  And e-mailed them in August using address they gave, never heard back - last person I saw in shop couldn't help and said head office probably wouldn't either...

Enough of me, how did they get £39 out of you?
