Received multiple calls from this number on my office phone. The indian-sounding man wanted to help me with "debt problems" and just wanted a few pieces of financial information! He claimed to be calling from "a company that you already do business with" and not be a cold call. When I asked many times for the company he was calling from was called he said "it is a UK debt management company" but told me that he could not disclose the name unless I agreed to use their services! I also pointed out that the number he called was on the do not call list. He said that he knew it was but he was just trying to help with my debt problems (which are non-existent).

These morons have called me at least 5-10 times at all hours of the day and night. If you (mistakenly) answer, they hang up on you :/

So irritating... Thankfully I not long ago signed up for 'Choose to Refuse' and barred the damn number!

Got 2 calls today. The first one woke me up, so I did a reverse lookup to see who it was. It was this number. An hour later I got a second call, same as everyone is reporting here...Indian-sounding accent, offering to help with my debt. I said I didn't have any debts, and hug up. No rudeness, thank goodness, but if I'm getting calls every hour I am going to scream. I don' have call ID on my phone, which I now wish I did and I'm wondering how on Earth I can stop these calls.

I love that they asked for "the owner of the telephone line." I should've directed them to BT.

Hi I got the same call.... no one spoke and there was some office noise in the background. I would suggest to everyone NOT to ring them back as it could cost a lot of money.

Been getting around 3 calls a day from this number for about a week when you try to phone the number back its an american lady telling you this number is no longer in use and when you do answer the line goes dead. Got a bit fed up so i typed the number on the internet and found this. Never had calls like this and thats why i found it a bit strange but now i know a little more about it i will just hang up.

I answered to hear a non English born male says could he speak to Mr Iron..you knows it going to be a good one when they mispronounce your name.I am then told he is speaking from Global Telecom, so I say nothing... its always best when being canvassed... an unnerving silence , then they get to the point. I was told that I am a user of 3G network, so i said  "No". This one word has to be repeated, before it sinks in that I am not a user
of 3G. I told him why. The coverage in my village is not good enough. At this point he has no option but to tell me that my telephone number has been chosen to receive the very latest Nokia on the Orange network. This will be received in the next 3 days. So I said to him you can send what you like but you will never get it back again???

I am like that you see,if you send me something I did not ask for...its your responsibility to collect it.

    Interesting...

I did a CLID check, the number 0845 257 4457 popped up.  Then tried googling the 916 373 number to do further checks on them.  Definetely a scam.  The company names they mentioned either did not exist or have since liquidated.

He posed as a Debt Management company, however I tried getting as much information out of him as possible.

The problem we have in the UK is that we (may be) used to passing our card details over the phone to foriegners and these calls are popular.  When canceling my AOL I was very concerned they were not using a Scottish sounding person as thats a more reliable confort than hearing a packistani/indian on the phone.  I refused to provide the details even though I called directly to AOL.  I canceled by sealed envelopment to their head office and will not use companies that outsource to foriegn companies - where do we stand on the data protection act??

So, simple method of dealing with this problem is not to talk to anyone unless they have the same local dilect.  It will mean no outsourcing and have the ethical idea of promoting your local economy.

Anyway, I'm getting a call back on Monday from this scammer and hopefully build up a better profile.

ALSO:  Did you know that it is technically possible to fake a Caller ID...

These people - male and female of Indian origin - have repeatedly called my phone. From various enquiries such as debt management and mortgages.
I've told them several times that I'm not interested and not to call me. I then asked them where they got my number and was informed that they had got it from a  'database', even though my phone is ex=directory.
Now the calls are verging on harassment! It's getting ridiculous. How can I stop these intrusive calls - apart from me being extremely rude to them? lol

Received call on wife's phone from 08452574457. Asked for her by her maiden name and when asked who was calling he just said goodbye and hung up. Have had similar calls on landline for three months which thankfully have stopped. Very ignorant people, would warn people NOT to give any details to them.

This number called me today, I was listening to the Rangers game when I answered the line was silent and then whoever called hung up.  I tried to ´phone back, but suspiciously the line sounded like it was ringing abroad.

I'm getting two or three calls a day from this number including 2 today (a Saturday). If I answer it and they start the nonsense people have mentioned I certainly won't be polite!
