Got a miss call from this number

I had a call whilst out on 9th March from 0845 266 8793. I am x-dir with brand new number and only 3 people know it. I called only to find the last digit needed to be changed to a 2. As yet I have not phoned. Google search with last digit changed indicated Child Benefit. I am a 64 yr old - no never married!! What does that say? Scam or what? Government need to stop all this and create a law to make all cold calls CRIMINAL!!!

Most like they using autodialer that generates random numbers so yours was "lucky" hit for them i.e. X'd can't prevent that. Believe law is changing from next month but not sure will make iota of difference to non-UK callers. Get CLI with decent handset so you can block goodly number of these scamsters.

I rang them back.  Automated message telling me to ring between 8am - 8pm Monday - Friday.  And cuts me off.  (It is 9:20!!)

Yep It's the Child Support Agency, or whatever the new name now is!
No idea why they're calling me as my eldest child is now 18 and I still haven't received any financial support from the ex via the CSA or otherwise for any of our three children!
Even though I paid the £20 fee to re set up the claim that I hadn't closed in the first place. Meanwhile daddy dearest is living the life of Riley, carefree and with no responsibilities. Parasite.

If they are calling you, there is a reason. If you are a 64 y.o. never married, no children individual, the reason is probably a clerical error and they've been given your number by mistake. Call them back, let them know, it will stop them calling again.

Just tried calling me at 18:51 asking for security questions yeah right I hung up if it really is the Csa they would of rang back minutes after all a scam !

It's is child maintenance services however they are a bunch of moron's! Since April when theyre supposed to take over CHild support agency...until now not a single letter has been received! I get a phone call from them every month promising that they will send me letters soon. I've stopped answering and calling them back now!!!! Btw cold callers are people who tries to sell you stuff!!!! CMA tries to give u money...when is the question!!!

They are probably calling you for child support unless you do not have children!
