Over the past couple of weeks we have been receiving unsolicited calls from a range of numbers - 08005 610 056 (Thomas Sanderson Blinds & Shutters - we are not customers), 08454 019 114 (Abbey National? - we are not customers), 01274 663 293 (Redress Claims - we don't want to be customers) and 08446 882 753 (Redress Claims).  Today 08455 649 230 (unknown telemarketer) called but rang off after just a few rings.  We have not previously been bothered by this sort of activity, but has been a marked step increase and it is a worrying development; especially as we are ex-directory and are signed up with the TPS.

They called me, no voice just put straight to on hold... Some classical music and an occassional voice saying "your call is important to us", eventually and electronic voice says "goodbye" and hangs up.

Bloody strange

This number has called me for the past 2 weeks 3/4 times a day!!! For a guess i would say its a scam because if you answer it there is no one there, then your put on hold and then the line goes dead.

Got called and put on hold with music. I hung up and noted the number, I won't be answering again

They have literally just phoned my house and same thing - hold music and then a "goodbye" as they hung up. I'm already registered with the TPS, it's bloody infuriating that these scammers seem to have found a loop hole.

I have just received a phone call from 08455649230. I also got the message that 'Your phonecall is important to us. Please hold' then got the music. After a while I got fed up with waiting so put the phone down. I decided to ring 1471 but when I did this I didn't get the number but was still connected to the music. I tried this a few times and got the music each time. This was very annoying as I was expecting another phone call and they were blocking the line. In the end I also got the 'Goodbye' I definitely won't be answering that number again.

Same thing happened with the music and the weird voice I even disconnected the phone like a few times and when I plugged it back in the music was still on who is this?

Every f-ing day, same time, Mon-Fri without fail.

These call me daily .. I've no idea how to stop it since you never speak to a human!

I had exactly the same thing today - couldn't dial any number while music was playing, so I unplugged the phone, which cleared the line!!!

This number is one of many used by Redress Claims.
They're con artists, offering to claim back mis-sold ppi, even though I have never paid for ppi in the first place. Also claim that I have paid ppi through my credit card, but I don't and never have had a credit card.
They can be reported to the Ministry of Justice, the Information Commissioners Office, and if you are registered with the Telephone Preference Service, the calls can be stopped.
As the law stands, if you speak to them and request that they cease calling your number, they are legally obligated to do so. So, if you try this and they still call you, they can be prosecuted.

got a call from this number and they asked for me by name and then the line went dead. this is a persistant caller and very annoying. wish there was a way of tracking this number down and reporting them

I had two calls from this company today.  The first one went dead the second they asked for me by name and I said i do not accept cold calls, and put the phone down.  Would you believe they called me back and the woman started to be very abusive, saying i was extremely rude to have put the phone down, if I didn't want cold callers then why did I have a phone.  She continued to be abusive and I ended the call. I think they are a claims redress company, I wish I could report this person.

wouldn't mind if there was a human being at the end trying to sell me [***] but there was just a [***] recording of what would have been a lovely piece of classical music... most disappointed... with the music

Got the music never spoke to anyone, occasionally it would say "we will put through to our next available agent" It lasted about ten minutes, even disconnecting the phone did'nt help. This has got to be re-dialler scam where you pay for the call probably at 50p a minute for ten minutes, times that by a hundred people and there you go.

I've just received a call from this no. When I answered the phone there was silence. I hung up and tried to dial 1471 but the line was busy with 'The Minute Waltz'!  As my brother is a Radio 4 listener I thought for a sec. it was him and waited for him to come back on the line, when, to my horror, an american high- pitched male voice said " please hold the line, your call is important to us'!  Of course I hung up immediately and at last got the dialling tone. Called 1471 and got this no.  How much did that cost me? I am tps as well, so I should not be getting these calls.
