this is the same people that call off a london number an asian lady or man will call and ask to do a survey i tell them that i am not interested ask where they get the number and they dont answer i explained politely the first few times that i do not want them calling back ever again, but they continue to call i screamed at the woman and even swore at her after the 20th time, but they still dont get the hint... id love to know where they got my number from these people are jokes and should get a bloody real job!!!! im sick of receiving calls from people like this they have got to be stopped!!!!!!

They are roberry and try to get money from people as much as they can. they will be punished in some day.

I also just received a call from this number, with someone saying they were from C.A.R.S. They seemed hesitant to give me info but yet wanted to ask me 'security questions' about myself - I was immediately suspicious. I never give personal info over the phone to strangers and when I asked him where he got my details from, he wouldnt say so I simply said I had not given permission for my details to be passed on and I was not going to continue the conversation any further - he simply hanged up on me. I have no idea if it was a genuine call or a scam but they definitely werent very professional!

I too have been getting calss from this number as well as unregistered texts asking to contact David Shaw on a 01256 number. No idea who these people are or how they have my number!!!!

All, I just read this all as I got called in Holland by them number 08700340602, which is close to the number you guys are getting calls from.

After reading this thread, I'm quite sure these guys did some identy theft, meaniong that they stole your details somewhere or got them in a illegal way. REmember that not so long ago the British government lost CD's with millions of people's info on it. Also companies are losing data (eg lost or stolen laptops) and old employees may take data with them and in the worst case sell those!

When they don't want ot give you any info, when you didn't receive letters first and when they start asking personal details, liek dates of birth, bank accoutns, or even to pay amounts, it will be a scam. Proper companies that collect debts will send a leter and folow-up on that and will explain to you that company XYZ gave your details as there is a debt outstanding.

SO my advice: DONOT give any information and NEVER pay anything. Ask them what the debt is about exactly and check with the appropriate company what the status is and if they are aware. If there is a debt, you can take care of it with them.

Thanks guys for this - googled C.A.R.S & this web site came up with all your comments. They are chasing me by letter & text for a Tiscali bill that I don't owe, the account was closed in March this year, with them owing me actually for overpaid direct debits! They tell me I have to get in touch with Tiscali, which I've tried & just end up going round in circles. Don't know how this will end up as they are threatening to submit a default notice on my credit file which will affect my business. They must have something to do with Tiscali to have got hold of my details surely?

i keep getting letters of these people and every time i ring them i cant get through im from ireland any one know the number to get throught to them from ireland please let me know

I too have received many calls from this company regarding an oustanding account with Vanquis CC, they call of soooooooo many numbers, some being 0844 880 0880 or even mobil numbers 07714 706196, best to deal with these people in writing ONLY!!! think i'll be dealing direct with the cc co. an noone else!!!

Just recieved a call myself and cant wait for them to actually knock on the door!!

Cars just like thusands of debt collection agencies buy your debt for pennies in the pound, then they contact you asking for the full ammount plus a fee on top.
With them buying your debt, by rights the debt is now owned by the recovery agents (NOT YOU)
Ask them for the signed contract with your signature on it to say that you owe this money to the debt collection ageny, plus ask for your original contract for the debt, again with your signature on it, They will have neither, by law, no contract, they can not claim anything from you in any court in the land, if they do (very unlikely)take you to court ask for the person who signed the debt letters that were sent to you to appear in court, he signed the letter, 95% of the time this person is ficticious, the name and signature is a non existent person, he/she sent you the letter, his/her name is clearly written at the bottom, so you want this peson to appear, the company will not show up in court, I have done it for 3 debts that were from the 70s, they were statute barred but they still attempted to claim money from me, I won a £6,000 harasment laim against the company for the 4 years of hell they put myself, family and employers (yes they phoned me at work) through.
DON'T PAY THESE WEASELS ANYTHING without the original signed agreement between yourself and the debt collection agency and the original contract of the debt, keep all correspondence between yourself and the weasels.
There are many beat the debt collection company videos on youtube, have a look.
