this number rang me twice on 25/10/09 but i missed it and when rung back does not accept incoming so who is it?

its a generic number from Thames Valley Police.

you can use the 0845 8 505 505 number to call their "PECS" operators to see why they needed you.

IT IS NOT FROM THE POLICE!!!!! they just rang after my dad, being very informal, when asked who it was they rung up. when calling back it sayd internal calls cant be made. so i rang thames valley police, they said it is NOTHING to do with them. i dont know who they are, but BE AWARE!

Yes it is Thames Vally Police

Having been phoned by this number today I can tell you the answer. It is a police officer that has contacted you via there police radio. I did not know until I asked the officer that came to see me if he had tryed to phone he informed me he had tryed via his phone function on his police radio.

Recieved the call from 08702 410979 and tried to call back but you can't.

I discovered hat you should dial 101 which putsbyou through to Thames Valley Police.

They then told me my son had been arrested! Thanks to everyone using this site I got to the bottom of it quickly.

The 101 number has now been rolled out across England & Wales during 2011 as the new national single non-emergency number. The new 101 number for Thames Valley went live on 14th November, which replaces the 0845 8 505 505, but both the numbers will run side by side until >>> March 2012. <<<

This number called me but unfortunately I missed all 3 times! They always seemed to get me when I was on the toilet! Haha.  I tried calling back but it wouldn't let me. SO google was my new friend. A few of you mentioned Thames valley police. As I had called them the same day I thought could be a possibility. So I rang 101 and he had a little search for me and was DEFINATLY them who called. They needed some more information from my call to them earlier. If you get a call from this number, nothing to worry about. def ring 101 :)

It doesn't let you directly ring back but it is the police

Rung me in the morning claiming they had found a nokia phone with a text from myself in it i then asked who this was he didnt say anything then i said whos number is it whats there number and he said wait a minute then hung up then check this out i had a call later this night maybe 22:34 pm the sound was stuttered for  5 seconds then a male spoke and said the following "Are you going to be out tonight ? are you going to be playing games today ? are you gonna be out are ya ? hahahahahhaa"  Then the phone hangs up and then im led to google search this number and im hear

It's definitely the Police.  My elderly mother rang 999 and they called her mobile back from this number.

It IS Thames Valley Police- they rang me today re a case I am a witness in.
