I am on the Telephone Preferential Service list, unless TPS has removed me. I have today received what is clearly a scam offer from "DNC" ("Do not call"), claiming to be regulated by Ofcom. The caller offered to stop all unwanted calls and take legal action against any breaches for a "lifetime fee of £39.99" for which I would receive a "password". This was therefore a marketing call in contravention of the TPS rule that I should not be contacted by such salespeople. Naturally I did not fall for what is obviously a scam, and I told them they had no right to contact me. They gave a website: www.stopunwantedcalls.net and a phone number: 0871 288 0958, neither of which I have investigated yet. The two callers (including a "supervisor") sounded as if they were speaking from India or Pakistan. On dialling 1471 no number was available, indicating an overseas call.

Neither the website nor the phone number of "DNC" exists. It is a scam. Glad camn didn't fall for it. I didn't either. Scum bags!
