Cold called 02/01/09 - How does this site stop them?

Got a call from 08456337744. It appears this is also a Cheers International number (as a quick google search instructed me). Exactly the same, they let it ring once and then put down the phone. The strange thing in this is that I live in PORTUGAl! Why the hell would a UK based communications company call me? I'll just leave it...

These people tried to call me whilst I was on holiday in Tenerife and I had a missed call from them.  I did not recognise the number so did not call back.  However I never deleted the number from my phone and discovered that somehow I had rung it by accident whilst the phone was in my bag and I am £2.84 poorer as a result.  I am quite naive where technology is concerned and allowed a stranger to borrow my phone some time ago in an "emergency".  I have wondered whether there would be any repercussions from this!  Does anyone think thats how they got my number and has this happened to anyone else?

Same here, and I live in the Netherlands. Figured it was a scam and this site confirms it for me.

I got a call despite being very careful with my mobile number. These people clearly are doing mass cold calls to people who have never given them their number or permission to call. They should be closed down by Ofcom, but I shan't hold my breath.

Just had one about 10 mins ago, looked dodgy with it starting 0871 so checked and now won't be calling back.

One word SCAM SCAM SCAM
They want you to ring them back at a premium rate. They make £800,000 a month out of gullable public. One born every minute is there motto. They use hundreds of different numbers. About time the authorities did something about them or do they themselves profit from the scams? Anyone know where these slugs have their headquarters?

I bought from Lipsy and Asos last night via the internet, the only time I have ever provided my mobile number and I have just got a missed call, like the previous rang once tried calling it back but it was trying to charge me 9p min so hung up, seems like my details have been sold on very quickly, last time I will be buying from both sites!!!

Got a 'one ringer' so called it back as im moving house and electric companies and such contact me alot at the mo, was asked to input which star sign i was so...... i hung up. B@STARDS!

Ive had 2 calls from the the first was last night from 08716599525 and about 10 min ago from 08716599525, this calls made me look into whats going and look like cheers are still at it. Looking at all the posts was great to see ima not alone. I noticed Anna metioned that she shops on ASOS i am also an ASOS shopper but have not bought anything for over a month. Very Strange

Called me twice in one hour, determined little bunch, I definitely won't be returning their call. I know better than to get scammed, I have google.

just called me about ten mins ago googled them and they use loads of numbers

good thing they called old number im shutting down but even so was only a few ppl had that number close friends family even work never had that number

googled number its cheers international sales limited from what i can see they phone on your mobile so you ring them back get charged the earth get no where with them and then they will pass your number on but to who, other companies on the same level i suspect or you may get a phone call, you miss it phone back and then get passed on to cheers either way you end up in the same place getting charged and them making a profit, don't quit understand why on calling them back some people have commented that the phone is answered and then hung up, they must be just be busy!!!! by phoning back they can then take that as they can pass your number on to who knows what other companies? up to you if you phone back your choice.

These f***s rang me and I knew it was a scam but for some reason i got charged 9 quid for calling them. probably went off in my pocket. I think you can get the number blocked with an o2 account?

Hello, I'm from Germany, and I got a call from this company too. Only one ring. I didn't call back. Only few people have my number here in Germany and nobody in England. I've been there ten years ago.
