- James56| 1 replyThis number seems to be called by me three times January 11th and 12th, costing in total £3.58.
All calls made after midnight.
We weren't home at that ime, so, whose number is this? - phoneguy replies to James56do you have a PDQ/Credit card machine
if so, it is dialling up to report it's daily takings and update the list of banned cards
ask your provider for an internet based PDQ/card machine - jonthis number rang us in the middle of the night…as an update to our visa machine….and it cost us almost £5….and these people cannot be contacted.??????
- helenwe've been charged for calls on a weekend when no one working, it looks like our credit card machine updating, but the cost is horrendous.
- John GreenOne call from 08717111224 is for £9.59p at 12.30 am on 20/01/2014
- Caller: Card machine company
- John GreenCorrection to above message sorry.
12.30pm.- Caller: Card machine company
- WhomesirHypercom deny this is one of their numbers and say at SGGL now maintains my terminal when in fact SGGL is the leasing company! I contacted FirstData who supply my services and they have switched my terminal over to broadband so that I will never be charged these costs again!
- Caller: Hypercom
- steve replies to razul miahAs somebody said below, this is a company in Salisbury. They supply the PDQ units to companies such as payment sense etc.
The call and charge is (I think) the monthy update of what your terminal has taken. I get a monthly printout on about 25th of the month. - David CassidyPaymentSense is the trading front of First Data Merchant Solutions AKA FDR Ltd and Hypercom are the supplier of the card processing devices (the swipe machine/PDQ units). They are both in Salisbury but the company number posted (01722 332255), belongs to Spire, also in Salisbury (catchy name if you're familiar with the Cathedral), who are the manufacturer's of the PDQ units supplied to Hypercom and others (so i was reliably informed after dialing it). Coincidence?
The odd thing for us (we trade as www.thecartridgefamily.co.uk resellers of branded & compatible ink & toner cartridges) is that over previous months they'll be calling us using the same number for one to 5 minutes each month at a cost to us of 10ppm total (dialing our card processing line which also doubles up to our fax) so at 10p or 50p who cares? Who notices?
BUT... whether it's because of the new EU rules that our telephone charges should be more transparent (read: more expensive - a great time to increase your charges boys) that were introduced recently, or if it were because they got wind I was on the verge of swapping suppliers (to WorldPay - btw, i'm saving about £40 per month now) but they called our number twice, at 9:38 and 9:55AM on Monday 27th July 2015, for a total of 54 minutes at 13ppm Service charge plus my call costs of 1.2ppm (Vodafone/Demon/Thus) making 14.2ppm totaling £7.69. Now, that i did notice! Vodafone/Demon/Thus will not help me (nuffink to do with us Guv) so i'm forced to set up a bar to all 08 and premium numbers on all four of our lines (0844, 0845, 0870 - they're all at it) and will be knocking off the £7.69 from PaymentSense's last bill (yet to be received - we cancelled on 1st August). We had the foresight to cancel the DD's because PaymentSense tried to up our service charges twice during our 5-year contract which we forcefully declined but they still did it. I don't remember anything in their T&Cs stating they use Premium number techniques. Bandits or what? Hope that's useful, sorry about the whine but you've got to these days.
BTW, I used the word ‘Survey’ in this report as there wasn’t a classification for being bombed by an outfit using a Premium number that charges itself to YOUR bill. Der!- Caller: Paymentsense
- Call type: Survey
- FredThis is indeed Firstdata. They dial this number 08717111224 at weekends, 8am or so, and use it to download summaries of credit card transactions. Mostly the calls are cheap but the last one was £4 (24 minutes) which is a con trick!
- Jamesthis is a number that your credit card machine (spire, hypercom or optimum) uses to update. this is a monthly call. the only reason it would be so long is if you have a weak phone line or some sort of connection issue (3rd party line providers suffer with this). contact your leasing company's technical support team to find out if and how you can change your connection to internet, this is available on most machines.
