Got the same call 3mins of silence on my voice mail

Got this call on my cell phone. I didn't recognize the number so didn't answer.  My phone said it's a land line out of New Jersey.

Just got the call a minute ago on my cell, answered it, silence, then it hung up. Only said call out of New Jersey.

This scammer calls mobile (cell phone) numbers in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. They further violate the TCPA by failing to have an operator on the line when the call is answered, and still further violate the TCPA by playing a recorded message without an operator on the line. Their recording states that the victim has had their student loans (this victim doesn't have any student loans, and the mobile number in question has never been affiliated with a student loan) flagged for debt forgiveness by President Obama. This is clearly a scam. Do not provide this scammer with any personal or financial information.

This scammer also calls numbers on the national do not call registry in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. They further violate the TCPA by failing to have an operator on the line when the call is answered, and still further violate the TCPA by playing a recorded message without an operator on the line. When you do get to an operator, they still further violate the TCPA by hanging up when asked for a phone number and physical address - information that is not only required by law, but that any legitimate business would gladly provide for anyone they wanted to do business with. Their recording states that the victim has had their student loans (this victim doesn't have any student loans, and the phone number in question has never been affiliated with a student loan) flagged for debt forgiveness by President Obama. This is clearly a scam. Do not provide this scammer any personal or financial information.
