PS reported these folks via the FBI website.  This is an international crime based on what I have read on this site, and is in FBI jurisdiction.  Their site is www.fbi.gov.  They have a special form for internet scams, but since this was a telephone scam that crosses international lines, I reported it on the crime/terrorist form.  With luck they'll get the guys, but I doubt it.  This kind of thing is so difficult to stop.

Som female named Nancy called and said that there something wrong with my Microsoft computer.
I hang up, because the last weeks I've got a several calls concerning my computer. All calls from USA/Canada or from Egypt and even from India.

Wanted to say thanks for following through with call, I get pestered all the time from these people, they start ringing at 7am in morning, when I stated what time it was they said he works 24hrs aday so 7am is not early, I often get them to repeat them selves loads of times just to annoy them but, but there must be a law about them doing this.

silent call before 8 am

I have just received my fourth call from these people in two days. We are ex-directory and I have signed up to the telephone preference service. Who are these people and how can we stop them?

This is a computer scam whereby the fake company calling will pretend that they are from Microsoft and that they have detected that your computer has a virus.

They ask you to log into another website that will allow them access to your computer.

They then upload a fake program that generates warning type messages on your computer.

They then ask you for £100/$100 to fix the "problem" and for a further £80/$80 per month to "stay protected".

MICROSOFT WILL NEVER CALL YOU IN THIS MANNER

These calls usually originate from India!

I got a call from the number 1233378555 myself. I cant believe people actually do stuff like this. Scam scam scam

Got a call exactly like the ones described before from this number (123-337-8555). You'd think they would have changed the number. Asked me to log onto my computer and use a shortcut (windows+r) to open c:\windows\inf to tell me what I saw. Claimed that the PNF files were all viruses. When I told him they were supposed to be there, he started having trouble hearing me.

He didn't sound Indian to me, or Asian. Maybe North African. More stupid about Windows than most users I work with -- he wouldn't have fooled them.

Just got a call from "Bob" about computer virus on my computer from Computer Services Tech, blah, blah, blah. "Bob" with a decidedly Indian accent said he was calling from "KAH-lee-forn-YAH"; however there was quite a bit of static and transfer switch noises in the background. Ran him around the block for a minute until he had enough and said he had to go. These clowns need to come up with better schtick!
