someone left a message on the answering service for my wife using her full name (middle name also) supposedly from the commonwealth bank saying that our mortage repayments had fallen in arrears, My wife called this number with me cautioning her not to give out credit-card details (I smelled a rat) wanted us to pay straight away and asked for our credit-card details which she didn't give. My wife went in person to the bank and they didn't know what she was talking about---- obvious scam, could've fallen for it but didn't thankfully.  Steve

I had the same problem, they called my mobile and home phone, want my name and address, pretending they are from commonwealth bank, i rang commonwealth bank back, they had no idea what i was talking about. cant trust anyone nowadays.

It is the CBA loan department. I rang general enquiries and they comfirmed someone from the loan department had just looked at my account.

The payment for my loan hadn't gone through and they were ringing me up to check about it.
I didn't confirm my details with them since they called me.

However I rang back the normal number waited and checked and yes it was really from the commonwealth bank

Yup, I got a suspicious call from this number too.
I took down their details then rang the general Commonwealth phone number ("Contact us at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by phoning 13 2221") and they put me through to the department that was trying to contact me.
I was correct to be suspicious, but it turns out all was probably ok !

We also called the Comm Bank to verify number and it was the home loan section, even though they could not tell me why from the 132221 call centre.
I called the 1300 653 012 again and sorted the issue.
The Private Number display on the phone at 7pm on a Friday also raised eyebrows, but PABX and their hours justified it from the 132221 call centre.

All good for us.

I had the same problem.  They rang with an urgent message and then wanted me to confirm details etc.  When I wouldn't confirm they told me it was in regards to my loan account.  Interestingly my home loan is with NAB and I no longer hold any account with them.  Please be aware of this scam as I have heard they ask for credit card details to clear outstanding funds.

It is the commonwealth bank under home loan collections and the number is 1300653012. Once a home loan account falls into arrears it gets handled by this department. Their business hours are monday to friday 8am to 9pm and saturdays 9am to 6pm (enquries lines closes at 2pm). If you dont want to id over the phone, they give you a reference number to call back on.The operators are really friendly and can most of your answers about home loans. Ask to speak to Anja or something such a lovely person. Well yeh not a scam its the CBA.

I got three calls from this number yesterday, two on my land line number and one even on my mob. Thanks for your postings guys. I'm going to talk to my branch manager tomorrow to verify. I did not give them any details and did not call back. When I asked for the callers supervisor, she couldn't answer it...?!

I agree with Andrew above: It's the CBA home loan collections department.
I also didn't provide my details to the automated call but then I called back on CBA's main customer service number 13 22 21. The customer service rep could see on my file that someone had called me earlier that morning from the home loan department.

They rang me several times and I kept refusing to give them my details. I finally got sick of them ringing and rang the 132221 number and verified it was the home loan department. With so many scams going on these days and banks telling their customers they will NEVER contact their clients asking for personal information it makes you wonder why the Commonwealth Bank still rings clients this way. I'm sure if it was a scam and you gave your personal details the Bank would tell you how stupid you were.  Gotta wonder.

just had a call from a blocked number and she had a strong indian accent and went into the speel that the message could be recorded. i said how do i know she is from the commonwealth bank and she gave me a 1300 653 012 number.  weird.  glad i didn't give her anything.

Do not reply to this number its a scam. I too checked this out at my local branch and there was nothing register on their system to give me a call + the person the caller was asking wasn't me................

I have had them harrassing me over the past couple of days with No Caller ID showing up on the phone I went to a local Comm bank branch today and also checked my account on line and could not see any issues.  The banch officer confirmed there was no concerns and also no record of a contact to me.
I spoke to this forthright witch today who advised they would continue to call me so I reminded her of the current collection laws of 10 / 3 IE they can not contact you more than 10 times in a month or 3 times in a week.  I have no idea what is going on and have just rechecked my accounts again with no issues showing up.  I guess I will totter off to the banch again tomorrow and reconfirm.  I did advise she send me an email via my onlione banking outlining the issue but that fell on deaf ears

Very sophisticated phishing, not CBA but initial messages sound legitimate.  Return calls on standard CBA phone numbers, do not give personal details on this phone number

They have called my phone 27 times in the last 2 weeks claiming it was the commbank and to avoid further calls I should call 1300 653 012. They called up to 4 times a day with the automated voice asking me to call the commbank on that number.
