- AlbyI keep getting calls from this 1300872980 number how can I stop this bloody annoying no one answers just random calling
- Caller: unknown
- SkinkSame as everyone else. Been getting calls but no one on the other end. I've got a work phone and it is the optus network.
I may leave it to them to speak and if they ask about kids I might say I have ten and see if I can get company details.- Caller: 1300872980
- Gaz replies to Lachlan CraigieAre you with Optus or Virgin Mobile?
- GazI also keep getting calls from this no. and i think it may have something indirectly to do with optus/virgin mobile. I say this because the same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago where I kept getting called 1 - 2 times a day everyday from the no. 0281983820. If you look that number up at this site you'll notice in the comments that the common theme is everyone has either their phone or internet with optus.
I think it's too much of a coincidence for two these number not to be linked, especially because, if you read the comments for the other no, people claim that if they answer it is an indian or phillipino person on the other end asking random questions..
I think our numbers have either been sold by optus to a 3rd party or stolen from them.- Caller: Unknown
- DJIndian telemarketer from Wyndham Leisure saying that I have won $1000 worth of holiday vouchers but that I have to attend a semminar to claim it.
- Caller: Wyndham Leisure
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Paul TI have googled this number 1300.872.980
Its an outfit called Wyndham Resorts (not sure if spelling is correct)
It appears that when you answer, and it hangs up, or if you call them back, the times are logged, and a real telemarketer will call at the time that gets the most responses,, and try and sell you a holiday.
Calls to my wife's phone have increased over the last couple week (4 calls today)
I am guessing best thing to do is not answer and let it ring out and definetely DO NOT call back!
Hopefully after a few more weeks of annoying calls, and no answers or reply, we will automatically drop off their system and they will try some other poor sods number?- Caller: Wyndham Resorts
- DanHad a call from this number on Saturday 10/09/2011 asking me to particepate in a survey, I told him I was busy and hung up on him, now he calls every few hours and hangs up. But if I fing him I will stick his [***] phone up his [***]
- Caller: Don't know
- Call type: Survey
- CutieThis number appears on my phone every day. Probably some overseas selling company. Nothing better to do with their time. Worse still, have difficulty with English language. My advice to them - if you can't or won't speak English DO NOT CALL.
- GTI just receieved several calls from this number today. I never answer but they just continually call and it's starting to get really annoying
- thii got a call from this number and not sure who was it?
- nguyen hawho was it?
- Mrs Fthey have been ringing me for the last couple of days, hear a few beeps and nothing else. Really giving me the irrits. Not going to call the number, as I suspect that may be where the scam lies.
- Not Happy Mum| 1 replyHave had 3 calls today on my mobile asking for my daughter, who is 13yrs old. My husband answered the last call (a couple of mins ago) and an indian guy asked for my daughter by first name, husband said no, she's not here, and he hung up. Have tried to ring back and it just rings out.....seriously dodgey
- Not Happy Mum replies to Not Happy MumWe are on optus.....who's selling our numbers to who?
- gapsawindI got 5 calls from this number today alone. They have been calling me every day for over a week. Don they ever give up. I let out a blood curdling scream at them today after the 5th call, hopefully I burst the callers ear drums.
- JamieIf it's Wyndham Resorts, you wont drop off their system. They have been calling me for YEARS. Even when I speak to the operator and ask them to take me off call lists, the calls stop for about 4 months and then start again.
As soon as I figure out the number they're ringing from and block it, they start calling from a different number.
Harrassment at it's best. They are relentless.
I'm with Optus as well. - AdamHad a call from this number today, came up as +1 (300) 872-980 on my phone (america?) I didn't answer it, I assume they will probably call back. I am also with optus... At first I thought it was a company that make the iphone app "SmartSync" because I had just registered the app with my phone number 30 mins prior to the call... but after reading this thread i'm not so sure.
- DaveIndian promotional call.
They first try and sell me holiday packages - then I decline and hang up.
They call back 10 mins later and try and survey me on 'rising costs of living in NSW'. I tell them I'm from WA and they say it doesn't matter - insisting to survey me.
Whoever is behind it - pretty dumb - MarcusDear people this is an international scam. They use differnent numbers. Origninally they phone from perhaps a cell number and when you answer it, they pretend to try to sell something to you and prentend that it is a wrong number. During this conversation they download an app on your phone. They can now use your phone as an switchboard. Every time you get a call from this number they switch a call through your number that you pay for. Therefore it sounds if there is nobody on the other side. On your itemised billing it looks like a local cell number. At this stage they can only load it on your phone's cache so if you take out your sim card for a while they need to make a call to you again. Never pick up a call if you don't know the number. They sell a service for very cheap international calls and they can do it as you are helping to pay for the service
