    They keep calling looking for my boyfriend WHO DOESN'T EVEN LIVE HERE. Asking for his home or mobile number and being very rude and abrasive when I won't give it out. I had to press for them to tell me who they are "Trans Pacific" apparently. They gave me the 1800 190 941 number and said to tell him it's concerning very urgent and important business. After several daily calls over the past week I finally got angry with them tonight and told them to stop callinig me as he does not live here. They pretty much threatened me that I'd better get him to call as if he doesn't they will keep calling and harassing me. I'm ready to change phone numbers over it......

    (In a foreign voice "very professional" he didn't even say my name or family members who he wanted to speak too !.Actually it could of been that guy who rang the other day and asked for my parents I said I am looking after their house for them.
    Maybe a return message.
    [I am sure what they are doing if they harass other people into giving information is against privacy laws in Australia.Maybe one reason they are overseas plus other reasons of course.There could be a two tier benefit here  
    they could be selling personal information for credit cards ect. and at the same time trying to extract everylast penny out of people.
    We could have skase's successor ! Too use a short analogy

    STOP WASTING MY TIME
    These guys are not debt colector. they are rude, indians who waste our time. I too received all these phone calls.. Many missed calls from them (over 20+ within a few days). After weeks of this happening , I called back to see what the hell they were calling about..All I got was very rude abusive call calls, from indians who could speak 1 word of english. I got verbal abuse from them.

    I too am having same problem. I have just sent an email to everyone I know in Australia to warn them about this. I would like to know if anyone has successfully stopped them from ringing again and again and how you managed it.

    Is there an ombudsman one can ring in Australia to get these people checked out? I am getting fearful of answering my phone.

    I called the ACCC about them, but they said there was nothing they could do.

    Thank you for your email dated 3 October 2008 to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) regarding Beyond Global.



    The role of the ACCC is to ensure compliance with the Trade Practices Act 1974 (TPA), which is designed to encourage fair trading and discourage anti-competitive conduct through a specific set of competition and consumer protection rules. However the TPA does not prohibit every activity that every consumer or business perceives to be unfair.



    I note from your email that have expressed concerns about Beyond Global’s debt collection practices in which you have been receiving unsolicited aggressive phone calls from them trying to ascertain if you are one of their debtors they are seeking. The conduct, while oppressive, is unlikely to breach section 60 of the TPA which prohibits corporations from using physical force, undue harassment or coercion in connection with the supply of or payment for goods or services by a consumer.



    The only relevant issue, which the ACCC can address, is whether conduct involves a breach or potential breach of the TPA. In broad terms, the TPA has no provisions that prohibit unfair or poor company customer service standards. The question as to whether your concerns would involve a potential contravention of the TPA has been the focus of my assessment. In that regard, the way in which Beyond Global communicates with consumers would not, of itself, be regarded as a contravention of the Act.



    Nevertheless there are specific legal requirements that debt collectors must follow in their activities and I attach an electronic copy of an ACCC publication on harassment and debt collection which may assist you in dealing with this matter. The publication is called ‘Dealing with debt: Your rights and responsibilities’ and is available from our website at: http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/799403.

    Here is my reply to the ACCC.  They have not replied to it.

    There is no 'e' - it is Byond, not Beyond.

    So, in short, there is nothing that can be done to stop this company from calling thousands of people repeatedly demanding sensitive data without properly identifying themselves first, and we all just have to put up with it.

    Since my email, they have called once again.  After telling them that we know what their business is, and again repeating I do not have same middle initial as the person they seek, they agreed to remove me from their harassment list.  They have not called for 2 weeks now.

    I had already read, before sending my last email, the ACCC publication you have just sent.  It presumes incorrectly that the Debt Collector would have identified themselves as such.  If they had done so, I would have immediately disputed the debt and told them they called the wrong person.  But as they did not identify themselves fully, I was unable to determine what my rights and responsibilities were and deal with them effectively.

    Furthermore, they refused repeated requests that they contact us in writing or to give us their contact details (post or phone) or their ABN number.  They did not reveal the odd spelling of their business name, which made it almost impossible to determine if they were legitimate business, much less contact them.

    Your Debt Collection Rights and Responsibilities guide only becomes useful only if you know the caller is a debt collector.  Byond did not actually do anything to break any guidelines, but just refused to identify themselves clearly or provide us with alternative ways to communicate with them. Your guidelines only say what the should not do, not what they should.

    I think your guidelines should be revised to require the Debt Collectors:

    *  ALWAYS to identify themselves as Debt Collectors

    *  ALWAYS give their full contact details and ABN so that people can verify their legitimacy,

    * ALWAYS explain to callee's rights,

    *  ALWAYS allow the callee to request that their personal details be shown ONLY to a trusted third-party such as the police.

    You cannot allow such companies to pressure people into revealing their personal details to callers they know nothing about.
    That opens the way for  the scammers who, claming to be banks or government departments, already send fake invoices to millions of random e-mail addreses and demand personal details such as name, DOB, address and account numbers, hoping that a few will naively respond.  These scammers use the collected data to create bank accounts, passports etc in the victim's names, which are then used for criminal activities.

    1/ THEY DO NOT ADVERTISE THEIR ABN NUMBER AS REQUIRED UNDER AUSSIE LAW.THEIR CONTACT PHONE NUMBER IS NOT OPERATIONAL AND NO ONE WILL REPLY TO ANY MESSAGES LEFT ON THE AUSTRALIAN E-MAIL ADDRESS.
    2/ DO THEY, BEING AN ORGANISATION NOT BASED WITHIN AUSTRALIA, HAVE ANY LEGAL RIGHTS TO DEMAND MONEY?
    3/ REMEMBER THAT THESE PEOPLE HAVE BOUGHT A DEBT OFF ANOTHER ORGANISATION AND THEY DEPEND SOLELY ON RECOVERING THIS DEBT TO SURVIVE. BASED UPON THEIR UN- PROFRESSOINAL BUSINESS METHODS, WHY SHOULD ANYONE TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY?

    They called home again yesterday 10/11/08 and my 16 year old daughter took the call. She advised them that the person they were looking for had passed away but they wouldn't believe her and said they will call back eveyday until they get the information they wanted. Well they called back but I have my home number on diversion to my mobile and they got me. I will get my wife to call back as the personn they want to talk to and find out what they want

    I called them today after my old boy rang me and said that htere was a message left for me so i did but first i rang a criedt agency in QLD and yep there are a DEBT collector and we chasing me a for a huge sum of 55cents what a joke i told them that i would send them cash in enevolope to them in inda what a joke 55 cents

    Sean Wilson is the caller I continually hear, many times a week.  continually asks for private details over the phone and when i asked him for a web address to check out his head office he wanted to argue the point.  He had incorrect information regarding my address (a state I have never lived in). He will simply not go away!!!. I said I would report him to the police if he rang back again, even my husband told him to stop calling.  Lets hope we never hear of the name sean wilson again!!

    No one I know has a private number, so I have taken to not answering private numbers and letting it go to voicemail.

    I think we need a business list, similar to the list of businesses with worst profit gain for 2008, for the businesses who use the tactic of stalking its targets to obtain results? Then instead of byondglobaljust being known for having one of the worst share prices, it would also be named for being #1 stalker for 2008.

    Another suggestion is if everyone (their targets) did their best to help byondglobal go out of business, that will discourage others from adopting similar tactics.

    I think ignoring them is the best way to defeat them. But hey what do I know anyway.

    Ok, this is what I did.
    First, I refused to release any personal info as they would not tell me who they were, or ther purpose of the call. From all searches i can find they are a collections agency.

    I tried talking rubbish to the caller, about my dinner last night, bowel movements (I was very descriptive)  to waste his time and get him to eventually give up but these guys are persistent.

    I put my details on the do not call register and I rang them. I recorded the call, had the person acknowledge thier name and the name of the business, I then stated my name and phone number and that my number is on the do not call register and I don't want them to call me anymore concluding the call advising the person that this call has been recorded.
    Have not been bothered since.

    They keep ringing my number, and after I was away for a few days, my answering machine was full of their message. 4-5 a day!
    Idiots.

    Just need a way now to block their damned number on my phone

    Yes same thing with us asking both myslf and my partner for DOB,Address ect, they`v` had even enough gall to ring well after 9pm. We tried to work out what the HELL there on about and we could not get a straight answer. After returning these phone calls to the person in question they Did Not Exsist Now thet are calling from this no:1800 213738 As the number at top of page no longer is conected so when they call i jst put the phone dwn and leave the line open it would have to start costing them Ringing From A Third World Country Keep Trying Indians!!...

    I got a call, on Saturday 10:55a.m (AST), regarding what I was told was an important business matter. The caller identified herself as Lizzie, and quickly became abusive, when I refused to take the cal!!!! Rude call centre people!
