I also received a call for these people - a woman with an Indian accent.  Again, no intro, just that she'd ask 1 question and can she have 20 seconds of my time.  First question was whether I worked or was a homemaker, then if my employment was full or part time.  She then started to ask about my partner and I hung up on her.  We are also on the Do Not Call Register and have a silent number.

I received a call from a 'David' at IMS (Indian accent). Said he wanted to ask 5-6 questions. I am on the 'do not call lis' and reported it. I don't know why this company is allowed to continue.

Same thing here guys.  I got a call from some [***] tonight asking me several personal questions about income levels and whether I and my partner were full time or part time.  I get the very clear suspician they're calling people to determine how much money they make and whether or not we're home during the day to rip off what we've worked so hard for.  Why is it never Aussies behind these bloody scams?

IMS in South Melbourne called me tonight and asked if I'd participate in a 30 second survey - when I asked who the company was, she repeated IMS in South Melbourne and don't worry we are not trying to sell you anything.  She started asking if I worked, if I was married etc and if I didn't answer a question she just moved on to the next question.  When I asked who was sponsoring the survey she said "That's not your problem, don't worry".  I just hung up.  If they can't tell you about their company and who sponsors the survey, or provide a phone number to call back - just hang up.

Had a call from this number - started talking about a survey on 'working people'. Caller identified himself as from IMS when I asked who was calling and said the list of numbers they were calling came from "an old white pages directory". Was a bit apologetic when I said that it wasn't legal for him to call as my number was on the 'do not call register' and said he would cross t off their list.
ACMA's effectiveness in this matter can be seen from the above list of comments going back over two years !!!

I had the exact same experience as KD last night. An Indian woman with the same spiel. She also told me they were surveying everyone in my suburb that same night. My instincts tell me this is a high-level criminal gang of robbers behind this. They would have to be well cashed-up to buy the information they seem to have in the first place. Do not tell them anything.

I could just copy and paste all the previous messages, the woman was polite enough but I had this IMS mob before so i asked her to hang on while i turn the gas off and left the phone down, when i came back in 10 minutes she was not there not sure how long she waited. If they wish to waste my time I'll waste theirs.

I have heard they follow up this call with investment opportunities, to the right people from the survey i guess. And yes I'm on the do not call register also.

Exactly the same survey as most people have mentioned.  Only Michael from IMS - number given was 1800 3939 4040.  When I said this was too many numbers, he hung up.  

Just had a call, similar as various ones described above, Indian origin female,'brief survey, working families, own your own house,' got to the mortgage bit, wanted to know value of house so I hung up. She then called back!! Wanted to confirm details of house ownership. she gave spiel about 'survey, every 5 years, neighbourhood' blah blah blah...but interestingly addressed me by family name of previous owner of house which I didn't correct. Definitely something hinky about this mob. Have done a variety of surveys over the years but this doesn't feel completely kosher.

Same company rang me, but using 0652667789. Asian guy, said he was from IMS doing a survey on working families. I laughed, said he had no chance & hung up. 2nd time this number had called my house, 1st time I never answered it.

yep have had calls over last 2 months from 0652667789.  normally they just hang up - we got one asian fella and i was polite and kept him going and gave 110% wrong information except my postcode - being they called the home number its easy to work out the suburb.  I asked nicely i need his company info and i will do the full survey 100%.  So all i got was something like boshen as his name (could barely understand him) he gave IMS research in south melbourne as the company and gave a toll free number (he stated those words) 1800 545 344.  Well obviously something to do with an australian investment company trying to pinpoint customers on a mailout i would say.  They are using this stupid overseas company to collect information.

Today 31 March, received same call - Indian pushy lady - asking the same questions as people have mentioned in their comments.  Firstly I said I had never heard of IMs so she repeated that her name was Sherina from IMS South Melbourne.  I said "How come you have an Indian accent?"  She replied angrily "I can't help that".  I said I don't trust Indian callers and the questions you have asked are none of your business.  And then hung up.  Found this website and reported to the government authorities in the number someone kindly suppied.

Exactly the same as everyone here, first received a call from IMS a couple of weeks ago, told them I wasn't interested, then hung up. This didn't stop them from calling me again and again over the following two weeks - more than 10 calls!!! They don't take NO for an answer and continue to harass us - last call was two days ago. The most annoying part is that their stupid calls wake my baby up! Heartless creatures.

Has a call tonight. Showed Overseas on my phone. Wanted to know how I was going since the recession?. When I started asking about Ims, and about what recession, the indian voice said, "you are not listening to me" and hung up. Strange.

I just had a call from the same people - a woman with an Indian accent, saying she was calling from IMF in South Melbourne.  Before I could say anything, she asked me if I worked, if my partner worked, etc, similar to above.  I interrupted her and said I didn't like her arrogant tone when I asked her who IMF were, she just said IMF South Melbourne.  I tried to ask her not to call back and SHE hung up on me!  I will be reporting this further.

Just had a similar call. There was a delay on the line which generally means a marketing call from Overseas. I didn't manage to hang up in time before the woman with an Indian accent quickly gave a company name and wanted to do a quick survey and began asking questions.  I didn't like her pushy tone and said I wasn't interested. She replied it would only take 30 secs and she wasn't selling anything - it was a survey about working people and tried asking questions.  I interrupted her asking who the company was again. She replied hastily that it was IMF, "just a demographics company" and tried asking questions again. Said I wasn't interested and hung up. A dinkum market research company will take no for an answer I have found. My instinct was that this company could be a bit dodgy.
