- Caller: 2001
- Gary| 1 replyI got a call today claiming my ip address had been stolen and people were using it to beg for money
- Caller: id themselves as Microsoft
- Kim replies to GaryYour IP address is assigned by your network and is either static or dynamic. Either way it would need to be someone hacking your line ( doubtful) or someone piggy backing on your router also doubtful as they would need to be in range and had hacked your routers security. I see you say that you were contacted by Microsoft, well Microsoft never contact you unless you ask them to. Let me also take a guess that the person who spoke to you had an Indian accent and their diction was poor. This is a scam do not let them access your PC . Hang up and block them but be prepared for plenty of call backs.
- MarioGot a call about stolen credit card. Scam.
- MaelsturmerGot a call today from 2001. Robot said something about my debit card being restricted for foreign use? Obviously a scam. Just don't answer or hang up and do not give it any info....ever.
- Caller: Fake banking
- AnnoyedGot this and immediately knew it had to be a scam since 2001 is not a valid telephone number. They left a recorded message on my voicemail which was cut off so I didn't hear what they were calling about. The caller ID only showed 2001 but on my voicemail, the location was given as Egypt. I reported this call to the Do Not Call Registry, rarely does any good. However they will not accept the 2001 as a telephone number, so I left that box blank and explained the call and gave the 2001 number in the comments box before submitting the complaint.
- Got a callJust received this. Robotic voice saying my debit card had been restricted. This scam has obviously been going on for many years. It's a shame no one will stop it.
- grinding teethBoth my husband and myself received calls from 2001 today. I didn't answer it, but he did....something garbled about his debit card being restricted, and to press 1. I immediately said, "Don't press it! Don't press it!" and he hung up. Obviously a scam, but good to know for sure.
- Caller: Who knows?? The caller i.d. showed the number 2001.
