These people call offering a grant and then ask for $289 as a security deposit.  I was told to call them when I got to western union.  Very skeptical as this sounds like a scam.

Ways. Gave me a PIN number and a ph # to call. I hung up!!
Also that phone number is fake. It just rings.

I just received the same call on 7/20/2013.  An Indian sounding lady calling from what sounded like a call center.  They gave me that same number.  I didn't call.  I wish there was a way to identify these thieves!

WOW!! They just called me saying the same thing I was chosen to receive $7500 from the gov't....said I had 3 options smh...so I told them checking acct....said I have to call 202-436-9932 in order to receive funds...I feel really dumb right now smh.....[***] FRAUDS

I got a call from an "unknown" number, actually been calling me all day, finallyl answered. It was some foreign guy telling me my government has chosen me for a 7500 grant...are the feds outsourcing? was my first thought, scam, obviously, was my second thought. They gave me a number to call(the 202 number) to set up my pay out, I got through and found out I would need to pay $290 to get my grant. I've heard of these scams before, this is my first time getting one.

Sorry, Kevin, you'll never get a cent from these scammers.  They only want gullible people to send them the $290 fee (red flag # 1) by Western union (receiver remains anonymous (red flag # 2).  If it sounds too good to be true, it isn't.

Lol these people are hilarious I got into a verbal argument with these people they called me a a****** an b****, after I called them out. I basically told them there low lifes and thay shouldnt go around doing this to people, told them thay should believe in karma. Lol i asked them what should i go do with my 300.00 dollars since I still have it an they don't. But ya i basically got the same story as every1 else. WATCH OUT FOR THESE SCAMMERS!

The same thing just happened to me!! An Indian guy called from a private number and told me same bs story... He also knew my first/last name and address... Gave me the confirmation # and told me to call the 202 number tomorrow at 11:00am to receive "my money". There's gotta be something the cops could do about this,!

I just got this call told me I had a grant of $7500. gave me a # to call her superviser ''Sara''202 436 9932 I ask her if it was a scam and she said no. she was calling from the US Fed Grant Dept washington D C.  I did not call

Evidently the scam is on-going. They called me, too. Saying I won 7k to pay off my College bills because I'm not a felon and I've not filed for bankruptcy. They knew my FULL name and had my FULL address. I received a confirmation number and a call-back number also. SHE was foreign. SCAM SCAM SCAM.

Yes I got the call black Friday. Being nieve, and a stranger on an unknown number, I coul d only make [***] up. Yeah I dont know what account number they got.  D O B who knows. The number astonishingly enough was on a busy signal loop.

I just got the phone call and I also told the lady who said her name was Victoria and she called from a 0000121233 number and said the same thing that I got the 7500 grant money. I also said I wanted it by cash cause I don't like giving my account information to people. She told me to go to my walmart and get a Green Dot card for only 5 bucks but I had to pay 300 dollars for a security deposit. Thinking I need to go to the police and talk to them about this so they can also warn the public. She also told me that she would put it on hold for me. I wonder if I call back if I will get the same beep beep beep as you did. I am happy I don't have any money to even get the green dot card or even the security deposit.

They call me to, what I hate that these [***] come over here they get government grants their self and open about 5 stores and also get food stamps to buy food fot their store and other free stuff

I  got this call as well.  they told me I couldn't use the money for gambling...  when I called the 2024369932  number back they said they needed 290  to release the 7500.  when I asked why they couldn't just western union me 7200-  they hung up n  didn't answer when I called back from my number or my other number.  didn't ask for my ssn,  and if they thought they are going to use my identity, HAHAHAHA.  good luck with that...   surely won't get any credit,  or a good clean alias. guess they want people to give bank or credit  card info,  if they don't,  then they disconnect.  scam.

just got a phone call from 0000121233( yeah go figure) It was kinda dark in the house when it rang. Anyways, guys name was mike johnson and of course he sounded middle eastern sounding and a fast talker. said that the government was giving me a grant for 7500 because of the area I live in. He gave me the same ol smeal that everyone else has posted on here. he said he needed a prepayed debit card to put the money on or I could get it thru western union. I chose w/u. He gave me a phone # (202-436-9932) and a w/u confirmation # aj806. instead of calling the number I found this online. Hopefully enough of these will shut these guys down.

They called from a number that started with 000. Told me I was selected for gov't grant of $7500.00. Told me to call 202-436-9932 with a confirmation # they gave me. I called, she answered, I gave her the conf. #, she said please hols, then took forever, so I just now hung up. Gotta be a scam.
