- brandyI got the call today and almost fell for it. It started with a call from 000-000-0000 though. I was going to get a 7,000 dollar grant. I was to call, 202-621-0716 and give them my grant approval # I spoke to carol. She said I needed to got to western union and call her from parking lot but not go in iuntill she said I would also need to make a security depositein my or someone elses name, but not to give out any of my banking info (HOW FUNNY) after I sent the deposite they would in return 7200 to me they advised me to not mention that I was getting a grant or WU would take about 1,600 of my money. I only live about five minutes away from WU good thing. It kinda felt too good to be true and both people I spoke to sounded foreign that set off red flags.I was on the fence until I googled THANK YOU for this post.I will be praying for all those that got duped and hopefully whoever they are they will be caught.

- Glenn from NJCame thru as out of area, but got my wife on the phone. She grilled him pretty good but he wanted to tlk to me. Thick Indian accent, I kept telling him he was hard to hear because of all the OTHER 'people' in the background. He kept talking....I kept letting him talk--I kept interupting him--which annoyed the daylights out him as he had to go back to where he was on the sheet of paper he was reading from--I'd suggest anyone getting this scam--it drives theme CRAZY . . .
Got to the end and wife called the 202 number in 'Washington, DC'. The woman who answered told here they couldn't find me in the system . . . there was a pause . . . asked what was the problem . . said still can't find me . . . wife got suspicious . . . the woman said she said she'd call back, and hung up. I think--or thought they could have a phone number that charges sky-high rates when you dial IN to it . . . glad wife hung up. We would never send them any $$$....we just love to piss them off by 'paying out the line' . . . When they said 'their calling me from DC', I tell them if you're in DC, then you're calling me ME New Delhi!- Caller: US Grants Department
- Concerned Dallas ResidentGot a phone call this morning from 2 ladies with Indian accents they said the U.S. Government Grant owes my husband $7,000. His needs to take $150.00 to Western Union as a security deposit. The names they used were Angela Johnson & Jennifer . He just talked to them pretending to be at Western Union and he told the lady "I told the Western Union worker that Angela Johnson from the U.S. Government Grant Dept. was going to send me $7,000" the lady on the phone said " U FOOL WHY DID U TELL THE WORKER THAT WHO TOLD U TO TELL THEM. NOW U WON'T GET SH@T!!!"

- hamptonI'm in VA and I just got the phonecall from an unavailable number asking for my husband. Supposedly he has won a grant of $7000,00 from the goverment. They gave me this phone number to call back and claim the money. I told them I would wait for my husband to get home so he would call them back. The guy, with and Indian accent, told me not to wait. That I have to do it as soon as I hung up the phone. This is a SCAM!!

I told the woman "no" she said "fine. It's your money" I laughed hysterically and she got mad. People are idiots and they will get theirs just desserts. God is faithful like that!!!!! Shame, shame shame on you heartless, greedy , lazy excuse for human beings. Remember - if it's too good to be true...it"s too good to be true and NOBODY IS GIVING AWAY MONEY. - Gene DummerWell, they are still in business. We got two phone calls today in quick succession. If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny. My mother fell for the "Grandmother" scam, and so I was suspicious immediately. I googled the telephone number, and sure enough, all this information popped up. I filled a complaint with the on-line cops but really don't expect anything to happen. The best defense is to remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

- idahomeJust got a call saying I would get a 7000.00 grant. He gave me a grant approval number and a call back number of 202-621-0716. If this was ligit why would they not conclude the call the first time. He gave me my address and called me but he said (in a very heavy foreign accent) that I needed to call that number right away after we hung up. I didn't do it.

- Call_Me_ Mr_Bob replies to Random Citizen Of OahuI am so sorry to hear abut this. I am with the Government Research And Bait (GRAB) department. We will have to start by my filling out a form #1234-FU. With all the cut backs, I do not have any forms though. If you send me $89.99 I can get some forms printed and get started on this. Of course, once the form is filled out, I need to put it in a file jacket but again we are out of them. We can not do anything until the formis in a file jacket so if you send $24.50 I will be able to put the form in the jacket and file it. But to file it, it has to go into the file cabinet, which is full so we need another file cabinet. They are sale right now at STAPLES so if you send $229 your completed form, in its file jacket will be able to be filed quickly.
Once we have your form on file, I will call another agency so they can get your money back (with interest) plus a reward for your helping out. With all the cut backs by the Republicans though, we do not have phones here to call with and instead have to use carrier pigeon which can take weeks (provided they are not shot down by Homeland Security. To speed things along, send another $49.99 so I can purchase a TracPhone which will speed things up several months.
As soon as I get your $393.98 we can get moving on this. Reply back here if interested. - US CitizenI received a call today advising me that I was one of 1700 chosen senior citizens that are being given a grant for 7000.00 from the US Government Grant Department. It seemed the ondividual was from a foreign country..asian or arabic. I told him that it was to good to beleive and I would request information mailed to me and I would not take any grant numer or phone number to call. The man already had my address and state information. It seemed like a scam and I knew the government does not just hand out money so freely. I feel bad for any senior that this happens to. Catch those scam artist.
