I had the similar call this weekend it was a woman with a heavy Indian accent.  She told me the government had money for me.  I proceeded to ask her how did you get my home number she said the government.  She also told me the government every year select certain US citizens that do not have a criminal record or file for bankruptcy.  The money only can be release in different ways one of the ways is in a checking or savings account. She said the only way it can be put in my account immediately if I would pay $ 215.00  up front to pay the cost for them to put the money into my account. I told her I need to think about. She gave me  a telephone number to call back.  I called the number and left the message saying this number was given to me and stated the whole thing was a scam whoever is behind this should be a shame of themselves and I said I am going to report this to the Attorney General and the FBI,  What was so scary is that she new my home address I did not know her at all.

I received a call from 202-666-4338 the woman on the phone claimed to be with the us treasury dept and i was randomly selected to receive 8,400.00 that i didn't need to pay it back it is a one time payment all i had to do was give them my credit, debit or bank acct number for them to deposit the money to . however i needed to pay 250.00 in cash it coul not be deducted from the 8400. i was very cautious. since they spoke with a heavy accent any way she said i needed to call Eric white. at

I got the exact same call this morning on my cell at 10:30 am central.  The caller said I would get the $8400 since I had no bankruptcy or defaulted school loans.  I told him sorry I had school loans discharged.  He said it didn't really matter I was still eligible.  I then looked the number up on Google while he was on the phone and read him the comments made about his scam.  When he continued to try to pitch me I just told him Sorry your busted and hung up the phone.

This caller claims to be from the US Dept. of Treasury offering $8500 to selected recipients.  The call sounds phony and they want credit card or bank information and $250 processing.  They claim to be located in Washington DC.

Just got a call from this number with the same story($8,400 in grant money).  I asked what the name of the grant was so i could look it up on Google and they immediately hung up on me.  This is an obvious scam.  Be aware and steer clear.

They called me and were very rude!  Apparently, they thought I was STUPID enough to give them personal information and acct. #s WOW!  Apparently, they are the STUPID ones!  

The identity of the company calling did not show up only the number

Woman with a thick middle eastern accent called claiming to be with the US Treasury asking for my husband. Did not leave a message just who she was with.

I just got a call from 202-666-4338 but I didnt answer--instead, I came here to look them up. Now I hope they call again because if they do Im going to have some fun

I told them they needed to get an American on the phone,the dummy put me on hold and then said he was  steven an American. I said u idiot you're the same guy call me back when u have true Americans on the end of the line!!! I hung up.

Got two calls from this number. They asked if they were speaking to Joseph, and when I asked who's calling they hang up.

Called 3 times once caller id said district of Columbia second time number came up twice on same call

Caller identified himself as Oscar Jefferson with the US Treasury Dept...has a grant of $8,000 which does
not have to be repaid.  Advised that we are on the DNC list (not that it does any good).  Will report as usual...hoping the US Treasury has a scam site.  He told me to call Obama and the police if I wanted to...a
real jerk!

So far two calls today--heavy accent ask for me, I identify myself then  he mumbled something about Washington D.C. and some department. Then, on both calls, he just got cutoff leaving me saying Hello? Hello? I suppose he'll call back. I think I'll be able to sell him something

I just got a call on my cell phone from a oscar jefferson saying I have been selected to receive a government grant of 8400 dollars and oscar jefferson ask for me to get this money I had to send  240 to get it for a processing fee I need to get the FBI to check in to this  cAuse I get these calls all the time telling me this last year I sent them 300 and some dollars for  grAnt money I lost my money and no grAnt money somebody need to do something about these scammers

And they changes there phone numbers they have been taking people money and not sending any grAnt money they are scamming people the FBI needs to found out who's behind this stuff cAuse they are scamming a lot of people out there
