It is indeed State Department, Passport Agency. When they need to follow up with someone who's applied for a passport, they call the number entered on the application. Of course, if the number on the form was typed incorrectly, then they'll effectively calling the wrong number. Also, the Agents do not have a phone number where they can accept calls, so this number is some kind of outgoing-only PBX, which plays a bogus message indicating the number is not in use. Must be a method left over from the clandestine '70's. :) Either way, if you get a call from that number, it's State Department's Passport Agency.

This number, on my Call Display, called me. I phoned the "0" operator to ask her where it is located. She told me two interesting things. The area code (302) she told me is in Delaware...BUT...she told me the rest of the number...that there are no such numbers. She then told me the following: "The telemarketing people are putting bogus numbers in for the number, that do not even exist."  Can you believe that??? She told me that she does not know how they do it but that they are doing it.

So, one can no longer go by what appears in the called display any longer. I thought YOU should know that is happening, if you don't already know this. How does one fight against something like this???

We live in such a "SICK WORLD"...well, the WORLD is NOT sick, it's some of the people, in the wonderful world, that GOD made for us.  In turn, we are now ruining this world in soooooo many different ways.

Some of the "STORMS", we blame God for, and yet it's many other things that we are doing that is causing some of the storms. Anyways, that is another subject.

I hope someone finds a way to fight what I wrote above, about the BOGUS numbers.

Received a call noontime. I was out.  The person told my wife they would call back later. Acted as if they knew me.  When I tried to return the call I was unable to get through--- a message saying  "We're sorry.  Your call cannot be completed ss dialed.  My called ID says it is from "United States Government."
