So why dont you leave a message?? I work longs hours and cant answer my phone at work so why not leave a message. At least then people know who it is that is trying to call them.

Oh and response to you stating plastering details all over the net, I dont I am fully aware of marketing fine print, and as I dont want to waste anyones time who trys to get in touch, but still get the calls!

+2031671196 phoned me earlier today on my mobile. Called themselves 'The Claims Guys'. English (assumed) person spoke, wanting to know if I've ever been mis-sold PPI. Told him no and that I was at work, he offered to call me back on Monday, on another number if I wanted. Said I was free this afternoon, he asked me if I was interested in claiming back any PPI I might not have known I was paying. I explained I was 100% sure of not ever having PPI so no chance of claiming anything back. He said fair enough and wished me well then hung up.

Bit dubious that they wanted another contact number, but seemed satisfied enough with my polite decline, remains to be seen whether I'll hear from them again. He certainly wasn't aggressive or rude like others have said. Maybe I was just lucky.

On a sidenote, just wondering what 'no idiot' would consider to be a proper job. I guess he or she believes telesales to be beneath them and probably gets awfully upset when anyone who isn't friends or family phones them. Might be a poor job but it's a job nonetheless.

Ahh so sales isnt a proper job? Without sales departments most companies in the country would go bust within a few months - including yours. That is if you have a job.

Claiming £60milllion back on behalf of its customers can hardly be considered a scam. Try getting your tin foil hat off and get off your high horse whilst your at it.

It's not claiming £60 million on behalf of its customers, it's ripping off the administrators of the compensation scheme, and fraudulently telling potential customers(victims?) that it has records of mis-sold PPI where there is none.
It's a cynical and dishonest ploy, which to my mind at least is very definitely a scam!

    @ annoyed

You have displayed a complete lack of knowledge of the process, purporting your opinion as facts.

These 'administrators' and the banks have sold millions of policies to people who would not be eligible to claim - ie self employed, temporary workers, those eligible to sick/redundancy.

These policies have been  a way for the banks to make more money from you. This is why a judicial review reviewed that many of these policies were unfair.

How is returning the money a scam? Do you work for a big bank by chance?

Yes I have. The problem is - you have to ring them.. not the other way round. Dead simple. If you are going to attempt to use big words... you should at least attempt to use them in the correct context. Stick to topping up your phone with your rock and roll money before labeling legitimate businesses as scams.

These guys use an automated dialer so every time they finish one call another is dialed. Once on the list you will never get off and as lists are traded world wide the only cure is to change your number -and thats a pain in the [***]. Databases of UK numbers are traded by workers who take copies and sell them - you know the people who work for UK companies call centres overseas who are paid peanuts and want to make a few bob extra (there was a TV prog about this) .

I don't work there. What do you consider to be a 'proper job'? What do you for the living? I guarantee that your employer will have a sales function. This sales function will deliver new business, which in turn keeps you in a job. Any chance of you getting off your high horse?

These people ring my mobile everyday sometimes 4 times a day. I don't answer it as I figured if it was important they would write to me. Seems like a nuisance call. They left a voice message once and when I played it there was nobody there just noises in the background. Another of the many pests !!

Got a call from this number last week and they said it was about PPI - I don't have any unclaimed PPI and told them so and that I wasn't interested thank you.  Have had another 3 calls since - what do you need to do for them to get the message?

I've now got into the practice of answering these cold calls, assuming they're related to accidents I haven't had and PPI I don't need to claim on, and just not say anything.  On this occasion I left an english woman hanging just calling out "hello.... hello...." and she hung up :)  Give em a taste of their own medicine!
