A woman from 203-930-9760 called and asked who is in charge of our electric bill paying.  We are on the Do Not Call list and she was informed that we do not accept solicitation.   I believe that she disregarded the law.

Asking to be on a do not call list does not mean anything anymore. This number calls my cell 2 to 3 times a week! Its harassment! I don't even have an electric bill.

Verde Energy is one of many alternative energy suppliers for consumers wishing to lower their electric bills by 10%. Yes, there are telemarketers who are trying to make the public aware of the options they have. And,yes,there are some who are complete morons who do not take the time to research what and for whom  they are trying to sell. Of course, people are leary of change. Especially when it comes to something such as their electricity. Some things in our everyday lives we expect to always be the same. No hassle, no bs, this is just the way it is. But, I do have to say, concerning this particular matter, the consumer has nothing to worry about by switching their suppliers for their energy. The only thing it does is lower their electric bill. HOW? By offering you a lower kwh rate. Of course, the lower the rate, the lower the cost of your electric bill. People are making this way more complicated than it needs to be. And, oh by the way-Verde is one of the only electric suppliers that is actually about as "green" as it gets. They strive each year to discover new alternative ways to supply power instead of relying entirely on fossil fuels.

So glad for Caller ID. If I don't recognize the number, I don't pick up. If it's someone legit and honest, with real business that pertains to me, they'll leave a message. This one did not, as did not 5 others in the last hour.

Glad for this service here ... helped m ID the guy from overseas who was constantly calling, threatening the very air I breathed, something about some fake lawsuit. Very amateurish, very rude.

I received a call from this number today around noon but nothing from the other end of the line. It gets old.

This is Verde Energy, a green energy supplier.  I was suspicious when I got a call.  But I googled them, they are a legitimate company located in Texas.  Their source of energy is solar electricity.  I also looked up Verde Energy on several blogs.  I have found several claims that those who switched saved considerably on their electric bill, as much as 15%. I am considering switching.

As far as I can see this is not a scam.  They just need, in some cases, to train their phone representatives to be more professional.

Telemarketer selling a different electric supplier.  Called on a Saturday, and in violation of the do-not-call list.

They called me at 9:09AM on a Saturday morning. I let the call go to my machine and there was no message.

Many of you were hung up on because you don't say hello, or you didn't give the person time to respond and say hello back.  They are not violating any laws by calling your home, place of employment or cell phone, wether you are on the do not call list or not.  They are not selling you anything.  You are getting the phone call because you are able to same money on your electric by lowering you kwh rate. It is all part of the Energy Choice Program.  They are a ligit company. Got a call from this number on Sept 3, 2010 at 6:45 pm. Left message. When called back from an electric company saying something about reducing rates. This is in Conn. We DO NOT live there. We are on the DO NOT CALL list!

Verde Energy is not an electric company. They are an independent electric supply company.  They help reduce rates for CT, NJ and PA.  The electric companies we help are CL&P, UI, PPL, PSE&G, and JCP&L.

Wow! Maybe you should work for them! If they are a legitimate company they should have the ability to send you information. When asked to mail me info because I DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH STRANGERS OVER THE PHONE I was told "to get savings you have to do business over the phone".

Yes indeed this is just another money making deal for verde energy and Valerie Verde likes her share of it. Company claims to save big bucks for people AND offers $50 back!!! All for free!!! What a scam for the naive and gullable!!!  These telemarketers should be run out of town just like any other thug. And yes, the DNC list applies to them as well.

    Mapper,   Please know what your are talking about before you MISinform people. For four years I have been calling people to let them know about this FREE program (they usually print info right onto your bill!) It is overseen by the Public Utility Commission to help customers save money and yes, get a $50 rebate.  Not only have I helped to save residents hundreds of dollars a year on their utility bills, I have also enrolled many, many businesses ( including 250 accounts for Walgreen's Stores ). The decision to enroll was made by the Energy Manager of the Company.. a man that is paid a lot of money to make these important money saving decisions for this HUGE Corporation ! This number called and started asking for my wife to give the electric bill(account number, bill quantity) over the phone. I wouldn't let them save me 50% of my bill (even if they could) because if they are this incompetent and negligent with regards to the law, common sense, and true customer service, then they would likely screw up something along the way. No thank you.

I agree to be leery of such calls.  I took the call last spring and listened out of curiosity because I happen to be in sales.  I also hate C, L & P and my ridiculously high bills in CT.  I took their number and did the online research.  The company was Verde, the number went to Norwalk CT.  They did not offer me a rebate but I noticed others were getting it online. I called back and took a chance as it seemed legit and signed up as long as they gave me the same $50 rebate deal.  I got my $50 rebate and about 15% off my monthly bill, really!  BUT, I had to call twice to remind them to send the application for the rebate which did not come in the mail as they had promised.  Also, I had to remind them to send the rebate check after 8 weeks which I truly believe is a gimmick unless you follow up.  Otherwise, I'm very happy I signed up.  I'll add a friend signed up without my difficulties in getting the rebate.  I do not work for them and get nothing for this plug.  I'm happy to take business away from C. L & P which claims to not be hurt by this competition.  That tells me they are too big and smug for the good of their customers.
