Report a phone call from 203-998-7000 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Kristy hakeThe number 203-998-7000, keeps calling me. No one is on the line need to block them or what ever find out who it is calling me.
- Caller: Vreizon
- ANDROID FAN replies to GompersMy Samsung Galaxy S3 has a feature that allows you to reject specific numbers. When I get a call from a scum-bucket like this, I put the number on the reject list. Go to the call log and select that number, then press the detail button(lower left) and select "Add to reject list"...done...life is less crappy.
- F RichardsonThey do not say anything!
- FED-UPSo much for the National Do Not Call List.....it's all "game" on for [***] like this!!!!!!!!
This is yet another waste of time that we should not have to deal with!!!!!!!!!
Do something about it!!!!- Caller: who knows!
- Len Sorbello replies to GompersI have an ap on my droid called Spam Blocker. Depending on how you set it up, it will block unwanted calls and txt messages. I have it setup to block all calls and txts from numbers not in my phone book. It keeps a log, so if you want, you can call unknown numbers to check if they were in fact spam calls/txts or not..
- MassGuy replies to Why| 1 replyAmazing amount of details "Why"!!
I am an IT guy, blocking this stuff is easy enough using your provider (ATT, Sprint etc.) - they all have an 800 # you can call or web site you can utilize. Blocking on most phones is easy these days although there are plenty still around that do not support it. Block lists do not help.
The details outlined in "Why" response gives you numerous means to thwart these guys efforts - Cell phones weren't in everyone's hands ten years ago - Rome wasn't built in a day - keep at the notification process it will yield good results. If people do not report them, then the agencies mentioned will simply let this crap fly.
If getting calls from Scammers and Spammers bothers you, it's you not them. It's just a phone call. We all know how to avoid calls or let them go through to VM. Businesses are run by making the right choices to profit. If you're making 70k a call then get a more elaborate phone system to screen those calls for you. Systems exist for that and work amazingly.
P.S. I do not have the potential to make a 70 thousand dollar deal in one call. If I did, I wouldn't be using my cell to run that sort of business. Not knocking you would prefer joining you and making 30k a call on a 70k opportunity. with you keeping the profit of course.
Sales people see us at Malls, On television every sixteen minutes, on Radio, Billboards and .. email.... How do you make your profit in your business?
Fight this one report at a time. - Ann Marie GruttaNo company name or info given. I won't even answer calls unless I recognize the phone number.
- macI use one Spam contact, then just add each spam phone number to the Spam contact's list of numbers (the Spam contact has no ring/vibrate, ignore, etc.). That way, my contact list is not cluttered with a bunch of spam contacts.
- sean narcum(203) 998-7000 Stamford, CT. This number called my iPhone twice in the past two days. The past few weeks, I've had A LOT of calls from other random numbers, mostly from Illinois, Minnesota, Virginia, California, and even Alberta & Ontario, Canada. When this started, I would ignore the calls, thinking "it's either a wrong number or a solicitor (although I'm on the Nat'l Do Not Call Register) and if its of any importance, they'll leave a voice message". Of course, they never left messages. After a short time, I answered a few of these calls out of curiosity. And after about another week or two, I believe I made the mistake of calling back one of these numbers out of frustration and am afraid this has only increased their frequency! UGHHHHHHHHHHHH!
- Jorge LopezI finally got them to answer me. I always answer Jorge with ATT. and they hang up. I 2 to 4 calls a day.
this time I just simply said "hello" when I asked who it was. they hand up on me.
I don't understand why they waste so much time...
do they get paid by the number of calls they make?
its some kind of banking .... mortgage financial institution- Caller: ? could not hear him clearly
- Call type: Telemarketer
- peterthis is crazy, i get "to lower your interest rate, press 1" almost every week now
- Why replies to MassGuyI am also an IT guy. The problem I have is that Verizon Wireless only allows 5 numbers to be blocked for 90 days. I am constantly going in and changing numbers to the latest ones used by the spammers.
Here is another comment that I put out labeled Conspiracy Theory:
Why can't something be done about these calls?
Let us take a look at a few things that might influence the inability to stop these calls.
Caller ID:
1). Your phone company is charging you a fee for Caller ID. Your phone company pays the scammer for sending their Caller ID information. Your phone company pays only a fraction of a cent per call and you pay your phone company to have the Caller ID displayed. The scammers send out millions of calls which amounts to a significant amount of money however your phone company is charging a large amount to millions of customers.
Result: This generates more money for your phone company.
Call blocking:
1). I personally use Verizon Wireless which allows me to block 5 numbers for 90 days, unless I pay them an additional premium fee which will allow blocking 10 numbers.
Result: This generates more money for your phone company.
2). Upgrade my simple non data flip phone to a smart phone and add in data, download an app that will block calls. Since they have called me using more than 160 unique numbers in the last year, this would seem to be the only option.
Result: This generates more money for your phone company.
This may have something to do with the phone companies inability to stop these calls.
The banking system:
1). The banking system is also at fault here, without merchant accounts and ACH processing these criminals could not collect the scammed funds. Though the criminals use obfuscation, layered corporations, multiple bank accounts and offshore stashing, patterns of obvious fraudulent activity become apparent after a short time.
Result: The fees generated means more money for the banks.
This may have something to do with the banks inability to stop these criminals.
The FCC, FTC and Do Not Call registry:
1). The FTC is only allowed to collect fines, not impose criminal penalties. These companies hide their money in overseas bank accounts and claim that they can't pay the fines.
Civil action by the FTC against such criminals is totally ineffective. These criminals need to be charged with Federal Felonies and subjected to significant prison time. All of those involved know that they are violating FTC regulations. The FTC levies huge fines, then rescinds them based on inability to pay. The FTC settles for the minimal cash on hand, and enjoins them from future telemarketing. The criminals sign off, then go right back to business as usual. These same people under different companies have been sued in the past and have only paid a minimal fine.
Result: The FTC and FCC basically are saying 'Naughty - naughty, now go out and play nice'.
Solution: Take away government funding for the FTC and FCC. If they want to impose fines then make them self sufficient and use the fines for their operating budget.
Why hasn't the FBI used the RICO act and gone after these organizations? On October 15, 1970, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (18 U.S.C. §§ 1961–1968), commonly referred to as the 'RICO Act', became United States law. The RICO Act allowed law enforcement to charge a person or group of people with racketeering, defined as committing multiple violations of certain varieties within a ten-year period. The purpose of the RICO Act was stated as 'the elimination of the infiltration of organized crime and racketeering into legitimate organizations operating in interstate commerce'. S.Rep. No. 617, 91st Cong., 1st Sess. 76 (1968). However, the statute is sufficiently broad to encompass illegal activities relating to any enterprise affecting interstate or foreign commerce. - Michael2 calls from them today. Wish they'd stop.
- Camille replies to GompersAdd them to reject list.
- NinaGot calls a few times a day from this number: (203) 998-7000.

- Jodie Campbell| 2 repliesI'm getting between 2-6 call a day from this number and about 8 others with all different area codes offering lower interest rates for my credit cards.
