This is Winnipeg Free Press.  I keep answering and leaving my phone by the radio.  They call every so often to offer me a deal.  I hate this because I have to listen to their dribble until I tell them if they can't deliver it to my door I don't want it.  Then they check my address on their system and low and behold I live in an apartment and they don't have the key.  Then they say they'll stop calling me.  NOT!  I think they use an auto dialer to call people.

Nice how they can get around the Don't Call List....
    Right from their website...

Does being on the List prevent all unsolicited calls?

Being on the National DNCL keeps you from receiving most telemarketing calls, but there are exceptions. Registered charities are still allowed to call for donations, and certain other organizations—such as companies conducting polls or surveys, political parties, and newspapers looking for subscriptions—can also continue to contact you. As well, if you’ve done business with a company in the last 18 months, that company is considered to have a relationship with you and is allowed to call. After 18 months the company must stop calling if you’re on the National DNCL, unless you give permission otherwise. To learn more about exemptions, call 1-866-580-DNCL (866-580-3625) or go to www.dncl.gc.ca.

I got a call from them and said I would subscribe. My subscription didnt start when promised and then was thrown halfway down my driveway in the snow instead of by the door. I called and cancelled after a week. Now I am continually getting calls from them with a hang up if it goes to the answering machine. Not impressed.

Winnipeg Free Press made my phone ring off the wall.  Non stop calls all day.  I called them back.  Supervisor Darlene stated that they were "exempt" from Do Not Call List.  BS i swore at her.  It is LAW that you cannot solicit me.  Stop calling me or I will come down and rip your automated calling machine to bits.  She relented and said she would remove my number from their automated calling list.  I growled YOU BETTER, or I will come there.  I slammed the phone down.  Grrrrr.

Further to my comment, It IS criminal for the Winnipeg Free Press to Harass us.  I wish to note that the Winnipeg Free Press IS, and I stress IS, breaking the LAW.  The Criminal Code of Canada states that three (3) or more times of a repeated offense such as HARASSMENT, is Criminal, and charges can be laid.  Criminal Harassment.
The Winnipeg Free Press is breaking the LAW.

Same experience as everyone else. Multiple calls, no messages left... I've taken to e mailing the companies who hire these telemarketers and I complain right to the company. So far it's worked like a charm! Every company from The RBC to the New York Post! No annoying calls from them at all. Still get the odd new one but I just fire up the computer and send off a note warning them that I expect the annoying calls to stop AT ONCE or I'll start filing complaints. Give it a try and save your sanity!

In control of who calls me
they called my fax number but fortunately, I've been utilizing a little feature called "call screen" - you just take some steps after an unwanted caller has called you, and this service blocks ALL future attempts from ever being able to ring you again.  (it's available from both shaw and mts)
it's the best resolution of all. :)

They called my house 6 times in 1 day!  All the calls were blank, no on the other end.  I got fed up and re-dialed the number and it took me straight to the Free Press.  I spoke to a customer representative and asked why I was constantly getting these calls and she rudely said "its telemarketing, there's nothing I can do about it".  I asked to get my number removed and she took my number and said "yeah well I'll see".  I told her that she is a very rude and if I get 1 more call I'm calling the police, then I hung up.  Taste of their own medicine.
