- savvy| 1 replyI just got a call from this number @ 4:50pm. A male with an Indian or Arabic accent said "I am calling from the computer department. There is a problem with your computer and we need to fix it".
I responded with "You're full of $hit and if you call me back again I am calling the police". Then I hung up.
Luckily, most of us are aware that these people are con artists. Posting here is a great way to make others aware.- Caller: 2092201908

- savvy replies to savvyI forgot to mention, that this person knew my surname, because he asked for me. That is scary.
- EmleyMoorCall to my partner's phone yesterday - from "Windows" - about a problem with a computer. Told the guy he was wrong and a scammer, and hung up! As is often the case, no country code in the caller ID - we do sometimes get them - but obviously not an Egyptian number.
Reading other reports on here this is a number that is involved in several scams.- Call type: Prank
- REYJust received a call from this individual with an Indian accent claiming that my computer has a virus. She told me to press the windows key and r at the same time and type in the letters "event___". I pretended to follow her stupid instructions and told her that i am recording the call. I played dumb and asked her if she knew who jeremy lin was. Lols. Should of ask her more dumb questions.

I was called by the above number. An Indian sounding chap and the conversation went thus-
Caller: “hello”
Me: “hello”
Caller: “is that “Mr Higgins?”
(I neither denied or confirmed my name- and still don’t!)
Me: “who’s that?”
Caller: “this is [name- didn’t quite catch it] I’m calling about the computer you just bought”
Me: “how do you know I just bought a computer?” (I haven’t- first mistake; I build my own computers and have done for well over 10 years- second mistake; I source my parts separately for best price- third mistake; idiot!)
Caller: “you just bought a computer reference number [6 or 7 digit number] from ....”
Me: “how do you know I just bought a computer?”
Caller: “you are the sole user of computer (some reference to a computer and its number [what?]...”
Me: (insistent tone) “right, how do you know I just bought a computer, how do you know I am the sole user, how do you know I even have a computer, and how have you gathered all this information because I think the Information Commissioner might be interested to know?”
[Long silence]
Me: “hello? Don’t you want to speak to me anymore?”
Phone goes dead.
Dialling the number gives an unavailable tone.
This is a s close to verbatim as I recall and these notes were made immediately afterwards.
Tell them nothing, confirm or deny nothing; everything you confirm or deny gives them information about you. If you have just bought a new computer, ask them to contact you by mail, since they should have your address- DON’T GIVE IT TO THEM!! A genuine company will be glad to be open and upfront about what and who they are and contact you in the way you prefer.- Caller: unknown
- Happy NowI received a call from this number this afternoon and was told my computer was recieving viruses and malware. They wanted me to go to my computer, follow their instructions to help me. I asked them if they were calling everyone on the planet with the Windows version they were talking about. After I told them that they were just a phone number to me and I wanted the number to confirm who they were, they told my that if I didn't want their help I was on my own and I thanked them. When I redialed the number from Caller ID I received the message "If I don't want to received calls about their special promotions press 1." I just hung up. The area code is 209. My call originated from California and their accents made it very difficult to understand. WHAT A SCAM!

- Roba TussinI received a call from 209-220-1908 this morning. I did not answer. I never do unless I know the number calling. As far as I am concerned 99% of unknown numbers are scam artists.

- ToddScam artists. VERY THICK INDIAN ACCENTS. I called the CitiBank number on the back of my card to ask a few questions about a charge and somehow these guys routed the call to them...Unfortunatly, I gave them my credit card number/address...realized what was going on...hung up and called CitiBank. They called me nonstop for almost 20 minutes before I had Sprint block their calls!!! WOW, what a day.
- Caller: Unknown
- Oregon ReportingI rec'd the XFMT ODP call minutes ago. When asked about accessing my computer, I said I would not allow that and wanted to know who they are. Immediate hang-up from the caller. I called the number back and was given option to cancel any more calls from them. I then went to my computer to find that my security system had blocked a Trojan Horse assault from XFMT ODP which is listed as a timeshare promotion company.

- Annoyed by these 3rd world theivesThey just want to install a virus or backdoor on your computer so they can steal your credit cards and any other personal information from you.
Some of these people from India actually try to send you to websites like AMMYY or LetMeIn.
They also try to get you to go to websites like assistmypconline.com and showmypc.com
They pretend that your computer has uploaded files to their server.
They also pretend that you have something wrong with your computer quoting a CLSID number that is on every single persons windows computer, and 90% of the computers out there have the same CLSID number, but these weirdos pretend it is only yours and tell you they are on your computer and they have to fix it. (THEY ARE LIARS)
They will say your computer has a problem with windows or any other God Damn excuse they can make up to gain access to your pc.
They almost tricked my mother to give them personal information about our internet and computer.
She even gave them my name!! She said, oh maybe my son was uploading stuff, and yelled at me for uploading something (that is a lie created by these 3rd world country thieves!)
First it was a guy that called, then it was a girl that called 1 month later. Both with Indian or Pakistani accents.
I tried to yell at them or annoy them but my mom took the phone and hung up and said don't embarrass me, this is my phone line.
They should be the ones embarrassed.
I feel sorry for all the old people and innocent people they have stolen from.- Caller: Indian International Idiots
- RobinI have been receiving multiple calls from this number. I have not picked the phone up to speak with them but had a voicemail that the male voice was confused as to whether or not a live person was on the line with them. lol. Is there a way to stop these phone calls besides speaking to them directly??
- Caller: XFMT ODP
- RobinI'm sorry, I did call the number back and it says to push number "1" on the key pad to no longer receive promotions from them. Still curious as to how they got my unlisted number?

- SSA1900I received a call from this number. He spoke with an accent, perhaps from India. Claimed my computer had sent his monitoring system a number of critical error notifications and he was an on-line service provider that would fix it. He attempted to "walk me through it.'
I played along and listened to his step-by-step instruction that guided me into the START button and directed me to the COMPUTER command.
I felt like I had learned enough. He was trying to gain remote access to "repair my computer."
HOGWASH!
I hung-up the phone and performed my own scan, registry clean-up and other maintenance checks.
My system was and is fine.
He was attempting to get-into my files. Like what I got has value to some guy in India!
