I received a call from this number just minutes ago. The caller ID said "California". I don't know anyone from California so I let the answering machine pick it up. They left no message.

I've received a couple of calls from this number, 213-330-2890, over a few days, and my Caller ID shows the name BURKE WILLIAMS, as many of you mention.  I have no idea who this is -- and this person (or company) does not leave a message as to "why" he (they) are calling.

Yesterday, I got fed up and hit re-dial and an automated female voice answered saying: "We're sorry, your call can not be completed."  Then I hear the female automated voice say the numbers "1....0....0".  After that, the line immediately goes to a busy signal.

Good for you, Linda V.  ~ that you are NOT receiving any more calls from these jerks. And thank, for stating this number is (supposedly?) the National Diabetes Association.
After reading your post and the others, I rather doubt this really IS the "official" National Diabetes Association -- and rather just a SCAM from some foreign people phishing for our personal info.

    * PS:  I, too, have my number on the NATIONAL DO NOT CALL LIST and REPEATEDLY get telemarketers and other B.S. callers.   It seems the DO NOT CALL LIST isn't working as well as it should.

I keep receiving calls from this number.  It comes up as "Diabetes Group" -so I answered just out of curiosity.  I was greeted by a foriegn accented individual who asked if I had a smoke detector.  After I explained that smoke detectors had nothing to do with diabetes, I hung up.  Just another scam to make having a phone a liability.

There is a valid diabetes supply company that uses the 1-800-service number - probably the most abused number in service.

I certainly do get my share of exercise running up steps and across the yard to answer these bogus calls.  I have elderly parents that have called me for emergencies in the past - so I cannot ignore the calls.

The government and phone companies need to join forces and keep these jackels from making these calls.  Problem?  The government can't solve any problems ... just make the situation worse.  The phone companies make $$ from these bogus callers, so they turn a deaf ear.

Note:  do not respond to area codes 809, 284, or 876 - you will be charged a hefty fee (collectable by the phone company) if you do.  Also do not respond to a caller requesting you press "90#" - that gives that person access to your phone account.  Of course the phone company is aware of this but does nothing ....

Makes me not want a phone at all !!!
Undoubtedly a telemarketer:  Caller ID says "California" with no voicemail EVER !!! ... I returned call several times with and w/o *67 only to get "call cannot be completed" ... "DO NOT CALL LIST" IS A TOTAL JOKE - probably how these ppl get phone number in the first place.  I think next time I will answer with the worst foreign accent I can do HAHA should be fun - who knows? maybe they will understand.  Btw...they even called my son's IPOD app number - I think that says it all huh !!!

Also, everyone, trust me - its not Diabetic Assoc. or "Burke" either, its just the regular dumb*** telemarketers, maybe truly foreign IDK, but eventually they will stop.

Again they call ... after I requested to be taken off their call list.  If you try to dial back 213-330-2890 - you get the message "Call cannot be completed ... 1-0-0".  The last time I answered this number, it came up as "Diabetes Group" ... the heavily accented person on the line started to question me if I had a smoke detector.  End of call !

Has anyone gotten any contact info on these vermin?  I am on state and federal NO CALL lists, but these weasels ignore it.  What to do ??

I have done about everything I can think of to get rid of these ppl. They have been calling me for more than 5 years, and when they stop calling is because they are changing their number, and they will strat calling again...trust me!  I have gone through diff stages. Sometimes I don't answer ever...sometimes I do and ask very nicely to be removed from their list...sometimes, I yell and insult....but at the end of the day, they will do as they please..... Life is only one. If you want my advice, ignore them. Every time they call me from a different number, I add the number to my contact list, and save it to have a silent ring tone. So every time they call, my phone just records the missed call, but never rings.... until they change their numbers, and I do it all over again. I have 4 numbers already for my contact "Annoying People"
    Good Luck!

They just called my cell phone.  Said I had won a gift card for an online survey I did. (I actually just did one.)  They asked for some basic information and then wanted my bank card number and expiration date.   I don't think so.
