Today, multiple calls from this "not-in-service" number, claiming to be TELUS, and offering me as a "loyal customer" a large discount on a 3-year plan, namely $95.66/month for TV/Internet/Home-Phone and $9/month for my mobile-phone.
They offered to send their new contract by mail, and did not understand that Canada Post is (again) on strike, and thus not doing any home-delivery to over 4 million addresses.
Before calling, they must have Google-searched my telephone-number, to get my full name & home address.
Of course, I gave false answers: last 4 digits of my driver's license, last 4 digits of my SIN (Social Insurance Number), name of my bank, my mobile-phone number.
Also, she wanted me to access the dialpad on my mobile phone (which I said was only 1% charged) to do something. Repeatedly, I had to tell "Eva Elvine" that the mobile phone was not charged. She said she would call back in 10 to 20 minutes, when it had gained some charge.  I'm guessing that she wanted me to use "Settings" to get some unique information, but I did not pickup after that 20 minutes.
The "226" area-code is north-west Ontario.
She also gave me a working number in the Calgary area.
