- flarThe message I got was a recorded voice claiming to be
Jacob Reed of "Longwood Inc." a 501-c3 company, according to him.
He says he saw (I don't know where) that I'm selling my vehicle (which I am certainly not).
He said his company matches buyers and sellers of vehicles.
He says to call him back at 866-326-0950.- Caller: "Longwood Inc." a 501-c3 company
- robi have gotten the same call, i actually dont know what number called me because it was a voicemail, but he said he saw that i am selling my "vehicle" on craigslist. i am selling a dirt bike and bicycle, but its obviously suspicious. a 501(c)3 company is a non profit company, for example wikipedia. thats all i know
- Isabeljust had a call from that number - but didn't pick up as I didn't recognise it... +27 seems to be the country code for South Africa!
- Benny BoyI just got a missed call from this number, tried to call it back and heard 2 beeps. I didn't stay on the call any longer as it was already dodgy enough by this point.
- JamesJust had a call from this number and the lady claimed to be from Carphone Warehouse. She knew quite a lot of details about my account so I wonder whether cpw is outsourcing some of their call centre work to South Africa?
- Caller: Carphonewarehouse
- niki just had a missed call from this number an have recently had several calls from carphone warehouse claiming there was a fault on the payment i have phoned carphone warehouse back an never given out any personal info they told me there was no fault and didnt know why any1 phoned

A blogger called Scott Wyden has helpfully recorded this so that you can all hear the scam in action.

It does not appear to have anything to do with Carphone Warehouse (as previously mentioned) - obviously this person is just using some king of autodialer which probably gets people to call back to a premium-rate line!
Jacob must be crackers (!) to think I would answer an international call without first checking on here. :-)- Caller: Longwood Inc
- KateI had a call from this number this morning. Said they were from CPW and had lots of details about my new tariff etc. Alarm bells started ringing when he asked for my postcode etc - figured he should have these. Anyways I got really concerned when he said he needed my bank account details to confirm them with Apple, otherwise the transaction couldn't go through. I ended the call at that point and spoke to CPW direct.
- NatsJust had a phone call from the same number this morning but didn't answer it. I tried to call back but the number was 'temporarily unavailable'
- mickRang me today 11/09/09 at 10 am.
I did not answer, and it did not leave a message.
Be careful as it may be one of these scams where you call
back to find out what is it about
and you are being charged high rates for calling to paid no.
Definitely some scam. - tanyaThey rang me just now saying they were Carphone Warehouse, why they need to ring from a foreighn number Ill never know.
They asked to confirm a few details with me asking my full name and full address I gave my name but as soon as they asked my address I hung up.
When I ring Carphone they only ask for the postcode and the people I bank with. I would rather ring them myself then give my details out to god knows who- Caller: CPW

- JenI just had a call from these scammers, i answered but they hung up straight away, i did not call back. And will now screne my calls. What's scary is that there are alot of comments on here from Carphone wearhouse customers, i am also a Carphone Wearhouse customer. hmmmm odd dont you think?
- SarahI had a missed call from this number yesterday. I am also a Carphone Warehouse Customer but I had a missed call from them today from a different number, which on this site people say is for when your contract is due for upgrade.
I think CPW should be notified of this scam because someone is getting our numbers from somewhere! I hate CPW, in my experience they are rubbish at everything so I'm leaving rather than renewing my contract. It wouldn't surprise me if one of their halfwit employees was selling numbers to some dodgy fellas in South Africa! - kazI missed a call from this number on 15/09/09. Didn't think about it again until I started getting calls from 0441925555601 (hanging up on me) past couple of days, and looked it up on this site. I think they are both scams using carphonewarehouse as a cover. May be be a leak within CPW because I am due an upgrade - too coincidental.
- tushie replies to Davei had same phone call today, the man on other phone told me that he is calling me from carephone warehouse!!!
- MonalisaI got several phone calls from this number, the last on the 25th of August 2010. I have never answered them. But do not understand how did they get my number at first place?
- Caller: Did not answer the call so do not know.
- Manuqa| 1 replyGot a phone call today. the woman on the phone said she's calling from London Paprazzi Studio and I have just won a free photo-shoot and make-over. She wanted my card details so they could take a booking deposit of £90. She also said that her number is 0207 323 588! This is really fishy!
- Caller: Paparazzi Studios
- purplesparrow replies to ManuqaI have had missed calls from this number for a couple of days. Then today I had a call from Papparazi studios saying i had won a makeover on a different number (08009886223). There is a website for them but it sounded dodgy so i said i wasn't interested and hung up.
