These guys are scumbags -- third party debt collectors posing as Lawyers.  They will call everybody and anybody that you have associated with and claim to be filing a law suit to collect a debt.

There strategy... they want to help in your financial counseling.  They will ask the details of how you are paying your current debts - typically car, utilities, phone, etc.  then they will want bank information and possibly credit card into.  They have already pulled your credit report to gain an upper hand on you.

    Here is what you do.

    1.  Tell them you would like to have your lawyer talk to their in-house council and can you get his/her direct contact information so you may pass it along to your lawyer (don't worry if you don't have one).

    2.  DO NOT DISCLOSE any information regarding bank accounts, usable credit cards -- NOTHING.  You are not required to disclose any personal information such as how you are covering the rest of your liabilities to these Hyenas.  The only info you should discuss is very specific to the specific debt they are collecting.

    3.  If they choose to file suit, make sure you a) don't get upset.  B) contact a lawyer for help, C)put in a notice of appearance, D) above all DO NOT IGNORE the information as they maybe able to get a summary judgment against you.  In most states the courts are jammed with these cases and it could take 18 to 24 months to get a judge to hear the case, but you must follow the above A,B, C's.

    4.  Assuming you do owe the debt, tell them the debt is in dispute as the credit card company overcharged fees and higher interest rates and that is why you are not paying.  This creates a mess for the debt collector as they don't know who to believe.  Furthermore, you will not pay them even if they cut the debt in half becuase the bank has killed your credit and before you pay any money back the bank must remove the entire account from your credit report (I've had 7 removed already).  So, if they hit your credit bureau rating you can get it removed (which will take six months).

Stay cool with these Hyenas, don't get upset with these scavengers.  The cooler you stay, only discussing information regarding this debt, the more pissed off they will get.  Make sure you continue to ask them why are they getting so upset -- "I'm not mad at you why are you so mad at me" is the line I kept repeating.

I found this phone call more like a sporting event.  Thoroughly enjoyable and i can't wait till they call again.

Lastly, if you do owe the debt and they continue to engage in this sport -- eventually you will be able to settle for 15% of the debt.  They will be so tired of you, knowing there is NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO YOU.  Regardless of what they say.  Remember, they purchased the debt for about 10% to 15% of what you owe.  If they collect more than 30% to 45% of the debt, they have to split it with the bank.  Therefore, after a while and your debt having gone from Hyena to Hyena in their company, the proprietor of this Vulture Ville will just want to get their cost back.

Good luck, stay strong and remember -- Unsecured Debt is just that Unsecured!!!  Touch S**t Credit Card companies -- let the consumers now have their revenge!!!

    All Lawyers Must Hang
Debt collectors harrassing me due to name similarity to someone who defaulted on loan.  Shotgun approach at calling every single person in the phonebook with name similar to debtor.  Very threatening collection approach, won't stop calling.  Scumbags- I have posted their photos and personal details on Facebook so they can't be anonymous any longer.

I get repeated calls from this number looking for someone I have never heard of. Advised them I do not know this person and to stop calling me. They say they will note my account. I told them I don't have an account and if they call again I will contact an attorney. We will see what happens next.

So I got a call from these guys and, after realizing they were trying to collect a debt, hung up on them. Got a letter in the mail a few days later claiming I owed them from a debt I had been paying to a credit card company. I sent a debt validation letter on Christmas Eve 2011...and have heard nothing since. I'm not foolish enough to believe this will just go away; does anyone know what (if anything) I should do next? I've read on other places (besides here) that they are junk debt buyers and, in very few cases, they are able to actually prove the debt is valid. If they can't actually do that...would there be a possibility they won't even try to collect (knowing they can't prove it in a court of law)??

Keep getting calls from this number.  Finally, a message was left @ 1039 AM, Wednesday, 14 March 2012.  A man named Shane Still of the Phillip Scott Lowery agency was looking for someone named JACK  PARKER for debt collection purposes.  We DO NOT know this person, have never heard of this person.  We want these calls to STOP.   We will never answer these calls; we will never give out any type of info via phone --- SO  STOP  CALLING !   Again, we DO NOT know any JACK  PARKER.

    Not responding Anymore
Received a call for my stepdaughter who has never lived her. I have had this phone with my huband, her father, for over 15 years she is an adult and lives in another county; always did.
We are on the DNC list and I want to report this and warn others -many iothers according to the conplain list-to not respond to them no matter what. THey are apparently debt consolidators who buy out bad debt, then go after the debtor, their family, whomenver to collect something. THey said when asked is that is was a "personal" matter. SHe knows nothing about it.

I got a call from 303-218-7550 and I can't remember the name of the law firm the guy said but seems like it was different from Lowery Law Firm that I see in previous posts.  It was a three name Law firm and the last name in the title was "Sc" something. Scuzza or Scuzzy WHO KNOWS?  The guy asked for a random name and then tried to get me to identify myself.  HAHA!  His phone cut out and he apologized for having a bad connection.  I laughed and asked him if he was sure he worked for a law firm.  He said yes and that they were located in Denver, CO.  He would not tell me the nature of the call other than he was trying to get int touch with the person and that they listed me as a contact.  He said his name was "Augustine" HAHA!        Right.
If you asked me, this guy was sitting in a call center trying to use illegal means to collect on a debt that is probably outside the statue of limitations as it is.  I've heard about collection agencies that will stop at nothing to try and intimidate a person into paying an old debt that they have bought.  They will call family, neighbors, old jobs, and threaten anything  (even harm) to try and intimidate the person that picks up the phone.  It's a numbers game, if they call 50 people and one cracks it was worth the time LOL!  The way I see it, the longer I can keep a loser like this on the phone, the less time they have to harass the next unsuspecting person.   After I wouldn't really humor his requests, he said he'd call me back.  LOL!  No return call yet!  I can't wait.  At my age, I certainly have a some free time and I'd LOVE to speak with Augustine again.  I may give a call and try and track him down later today HAHA!

    They Called
They keep calling for someone I have never heard of and I've had my number for the past 16 years, so who knows how they connected me with that person.  My answering just picks up and hangs up after awhile.  I figure just let the machine deal with it.  I have not called back since they are asking me to make a long distance call.  I'm not about to call back after having checked the number through Google and other sources.  Let them talk with my answering machine.

    Wasting Lowery Firm's time
Got two calls back to back from this number 303-218-7550 again today. I told them yesterday that I didn't know who they were looking for.  The person "augustine" said he worked for a law firm.  I called back today and asked for "augustine" and got "Mr. Pollard."  I asked Mr. Pollard that I be removed from their list and that my number not be called, he said he would do that and that he understood.  He was able to read my number back to me without me giving it and said he would get it to IT department to have them manually remove it.  We shall see.
This is obviously illegal collection practices.  The next person I will connect them with is my attorney.

Got a call asking about a neighbor.  Of course, it's none of my affair and I didn't give them any information, but I was curious enough to check on them.  They are real bottom feeders.  They actually buy what may or may not be legitimate accounts receivables from other companies for a few pennies on the dollar, then use real Gestapo tactics to try to collect.

Do not underestimate the lengths to which these [***] will go to collect a few dollars.

It sounds to me like you should pay your lawful debts rather than blame someone else for loaning you money or issuing you a credit card.
